Barney's Dream Cruise is a funny game and its puzzles are kinda smart. But the protagonist isn't likeable at all (because of his actions) and there's only a modicum of sounds (since it lacks voice acting). Still, the price is quite low and the game is a really decent try by Gubbi Games, so you should definitely buy it! Good job, developers! Till next time, don't forget to point & click!

A fun cute little game. I love the humor and the characters. Puzzles are fairly logical. The game is short; you can finish it in about one hour or two, depending on how often you get stuck. There are no actual choices to make nor multiple endings. It could really use some music, though. (It does have music, sometimes, like in map) ** UPDATE: They've added the music. I appreciate the effort. Yeah, it's just music, but the game feels A LOT better now. If you're not sure about buying this game, you can play it for free on mobile devices. (Edit: Since the base price is really low now, just buy it, would you?)

The short version for busy or furry-avoidant people: it's a buck, it's fun and funny, it's more "cartoon animal" than "oh god that's a fetish" on the furry spectrum (with a couple of knowing nods) and you should just by it already. A walkthrough is included. Barney's Dream Cruise is a worthwhile, chortle-worthy little point and click that stands out for a couple of odd yet significant reasons: it has the good puzzles and amusing characters that are vital to a point-and click, you can't die, and it doesn't drag on. But inside a short game about taking your friend on a cruise are a couple of welcome, subtle ideas that make it especially worth a play and a bit of a gem. You play as Barney, both a cartoon dog and one of the few blue collar gay protagonists I've seen in a game. And Barney isn't just clad in overalls and hosting a rusting car on his yard. The way he looks at the world and deals with people seems a bit harsh but it made sense from the perspective of a man who struggles ...

I'm recommending this with a couple caveats. I got it on sale for under 60 cents so despite beating it in under two hours, it only cost me some change I dug out of the couch cushions. If it's not on sale, though, it's probably not worth it. The puzzles are either incredibly straightforward or very obtuse--as others have noted in their reviews
some require checking the same mailbox at different times and having a different outcome, etc.
and there is a LOT of backtracking. Also Barney walks slow. Be prepared to wait while he crosses the screen, for example. So yeah, not the worst way I've spent under a buck but don't pay too much.

I was trying to be optimistic, but it was really not my kind of game. The unique ways of using items was cute, but my real problem was Barney himself. He was the worst person I never want to meet. He probably did every immoral thing in the book besides kill someone. He did it all just because he had a crush on some bunny? Some of the content was disgusting, but I won't give it too much hate since it does give the game more attention. I would not recommend this game; it's slow and contains characters you would never want to speak to.

It's not fun and nearly impossible without using the walkthrough

Currently playing this on my gaming channel. I like the zany (and sometimes adult) humor, but I feel like the sudden disappearance and reappearance of music is a little distracting. Also, I feel like some of the puzzles are a little too nonsensical. I spent a lot of time trying everything on everyone, only to be shocked to find out it actually worked. For example:
The old bird at the bank kept talking about collecting stamps, so I thought that was a hint to find a cool stamp or something to give to her to make her leave. However, it turns out it's some random flyer for a shoe sale. ???
Overall, it's clearly a love letter to a forgotten genre of games and I appreciate the art style/gameplay a lot. I would definitely recommend buying it at it's current price level, but not much more.
