About This Game

Xenia’s Ark -- a 4X strategy game that seamlessly blends planetary, star system, and galaxy maps into a comprehensive, compelling, and captivating experience. After fleeing their dying galaxy, the major empires of Ousia Omina seek to reestablish their once thriving peoples in a new and alien galaxy. After founding a new capital in a strange new world, the player must explore the rest of their recently adopted homeworld, star system, and galaxy. New resources, technology, and territory will need to be swiftly gained and defended by Mechs and Ships, as all the former empires of Ousia Omina seek to make a new home in the galaxy of Xenia.

Play across 3 map types, each procedurally generated for a unique experience in every playthrough.

  • Six unique Empires to choose from
From the science focused Phaedon to the militaristic Arkidoun and others, choose an empire that fits your playstyle or presents you with more of a challenge.

  • Diplomacy

  • Trade/Supply Route System

Story

The Black Holes had been growing and moving toward each other for billions of years — long before life had evolved in the galaxy. The effects had been storied in lore as the blessings of the gods in the form of auroras that covered entire planets and dark omens by the strange disappearance of stars. But in the past couple of centuries, the effects of the gravitational waves (G-Waves) produced by the twin black holes had grown ever more destructive across the entire galaxy. Planets had their orbits altered to the point of making them uninhabitable, or even put on collision course with other planets.

A representative from each empire in the galaxy was sent to meet on the home planet of the Phaedon Empire — an empire renown for science, prosperity, and peace. A century earlier, the very same hall had seen an end to the Great Chaos War that had engulfed the entire galaxy for nearly two centuries. Now it would host the empires as they sought a means of mutual survival as the entire galaxy is under imminent threat of destruction by foes they cannot fight. After many days of questions, ideas, and debate, the empires unanimously agreed to abandon the only galaxy they had called home and sojourn to places unknown in order that their empires may live on.

It was estimated that the galaxy would be uninhabitable, if not outright destroyed, in no more than 50 years. The Phaedon had recently developed wormhole technology that would allow travel to the farthest stretches of the universe in a matter of moments. This new and untested technology would be the means by which the races would survive and live on elsewhere. The empires, united by this cause, diverted all resources to the development of the technology, scouting of the universe, and the building of the Great Arks that would transport the empires to their new foreign homes.

The empires met again after new galaxies had been scouted. They debated, argued, wrangled, and finally settled on a new galaxy to reestablish their empires. An ancient Phaedon word for “hospitality” — generosity and courtesy shown to those who are far from home — was chosen as the name for their new home. It would be known as Xenia.

You have been appointed leader of the Great Ark of your people. The day you have yearned for and dreaded is here as your Ark sets a heading for the wormhole. The fear and hope of your people weigh heavily on you as you consult the star charts and maps of the planets that await you on the other side. The Great Ark approaches the coordinates for staging before the launch through the wormhole, when a giant G-Wave hits your ship. Sensors detect at least another three or four in its wake. You have no choice but to launch now. The survival of the Empire and the legacy of your former galaxy are in your hands.

Bought it and refunded after 30 min of gameplay. Some parts of the game are unreadable due to tiny fonts and the game is very rough presentation wise, it looks like a generic mobile game. I haven't explored the gameplay mechanics to say something useful about it but the game surely doesn't invite me to do so to be honest. Other first impressions: Very fluid controls regarding globe rotation. UI is not consistent, some elements are not well highlighted or accesible while other parts are fine. The game is very dry as in board game-esque. Straightforward hex based tile development. Resources can be extracted by building improvements over its tile by your mech. Your mech has limited building packs, once depleted it must be replenished before building more improvements, these can be build outside of your domain. Serious lack of immersion. Specialists are created before you start a game and these can be used on tiles close to your base. Mechs are basically your military and engin...

The things I like in my game for 150+ turns so far are: ***** the map modes (a rotating globe for planets, hex map for the solar system and what looks like a stained glass window for the galaxy colored by who owns galactic territory with brown for visited but unclaimed stars, and grey for areas not visited) *** combat with mechs vs predatory wildlife. I suspect that combat vs other empires will be more fun once I actualy find one *** being able to move anywhere on planet with non combat units in 2 turns by going upto orbit then down anywhere on planet next turn. Combat Mechs can board a freightor to go up and down and can move and attack the turn they disembark ** research is random but ok, I might have prefered an actual tech tree even if was randomized The things I do not like or perhaps worried how they will affect gameplay are: ***** resources depleting til they run out is not fun. While you can research more resources that either generate Ore (for production) or Energy (fo...

Changing my review. They have made some great changes so far. And this is truly a terrific game in the waiting. Unfortunately, it is still beta as it has continuing stability issues. Some of your games will end prematurely with a "waiting for X player" message and crash. Once this game is final release, I will again re-review.

I am very excited about the changes I have seen in the past few months with this title. So much has been added since this game first became available on Steam, and it is quite enjoyable. I feel like anyone who is a fan of the 4X genre will get a lot out of Xenia's Ark! The game is quite deep.

Any fan of 4X, grand strategy, and / or turned based strategy games should consider this game. It is vast. It is challenging. And most of all it is very fun to play. The developers are supporting the game well and this title may become a classic to rival total hours played with Panzer General and Civilization. Blends land based and space based development and combat better than any game I know. This is totally a, one more turn game that can keep you up all night so beware. This game is a hidden jewel and if you purchase it you will be very glad you did. Five out of five stars. Looking forward to what comes next. Game editor, expansion packs! The works.

Great game. I enjoy it a lot. The game has a learning curve. It took me awhile to be comfortable enough with the environment to really start having fun, but it keeps on rolling for me. The complexity and vastness took a bit to get used to, but now I keep wanting to play one more turn and end up playing longer than I expect.. The mark of a good game, in my opinion! Devs are very active and helpful as well. That really helps with a new game. It's worth giving a try.

Some what enjoyable, with unique game play, but still very buggy at the moment. I trust that they will fix the bugs because they have invested 7 years on this game so far. With bugs fixed this would be very enjoyable to play.

Bought it. Really digging it thus far. Kinda has a Mass Effect RPG with a traditional strategy game (now wondering why Bioware/EA haven’t already done that). As others have pointed out, it still needs some work but is still in early access. Regardless, I’m still enjoying myself and think others will too.

Quite simply just didn't enjoy it. Found it to be too slow, I mean, most units move 2 per turn and on a small planet it takes forever to get to the other side. Resources just run out. Tutorial, what tutorial? I'd refund it if I hadn't passed 2 hours. Oh, and to make it even more "fun" when I finally got a colony ship to the next planet it was killed by a swarm of "predators." The config menu sucks, there's no 4K option (at least not showing up for me) and no UI scaling, so pushing it up above 1920x1080 made it completely illegible and at 1920x1080 it's hard to read because it's not native resolution. To top it off, I got an error dialog out of the blue asking for feedback when I did nothing but hit end turn, game didn't crash, just a dialog. So, I'd advise waiting another year or two before wasting your money on a not worthwhile game.
