About This Game

A quiet manor
Loud crash! Big nasty foot
One demand: "Wash me."

It is said that long ago in Japan, there was a certain house. Every so often, a strange thing happened in this place: a yokai in the shape of a giant dirty foot appeared and demanded to be cleaned! If the resident cleaned the foot, the foot left peacefully. However, if the foot was not cleaned, then the foot stomped throughout the house and destroyed everything.

Ashi Wash is our take on this Japanese folktale.

Ashi Wash is like a haiku. A goofy one to be sure, but a haiku all the same. A single reading of a haiku is short, but it invites the reader to reread it and ponder the layers of meaning densely packed into its few words. Likewise, a single playthrough of Ashi Wash is short, but this surreal game has layers of secrets and meanings that will give you foot for thought. You'll find something new every time you revisit it.

Want to show your friends your VR setup? Ashi Wash comes with a toe-tally neato VR mode that's great for parties. Everyone will be laughing all night at the absurdity of Ashi Wash! The local high-score list adds some fun competition, too.

Don't have VR? No worries! Ashi Wash also plays in standard, non-VR mode. In this mode, there are more rooms in the house to be explored (and also some new secrets to find).

You have three minutes to clean The Foot. Tools are scattered around the house to help you get the job done.

Ashi Wash is a hilarious game that involves a giant, sentient foot smashing through your house. The only way to win is to clean him within the three minute time limit. The gameplay is polished and spot on. From grabbing tools and using them, to running around the house frantically trying to search for what you need. The tools themsevles shimmer, which makes the game a lot easier to differientate between a cleaning tool and a decoration. As for the effectiveness of the tools, the only one I had really bad problems with was the fly swatter. I think the problem with the flies is that they are moving along with the giant foot and the fly swatter itself is super tiny. For some reason the aiming is super off and it takes me 10+ attempts to swat one fly. I mean if the developers are going for a realistic experience, then great, but from a gameplay standpoint it really does hamper the experience. Making the swatter bigger would be a great improvement. As for the Foot itself. He's hilarious....

Surreal. I felt like someone slipped drugs into my VR headset...and I for the life of me cannot decide if I should recommend this game or not! It's simple, but it's priced inexpensive. ...honestly. Words evade me. A video however does not. For a video review of Ashi Wash with some gameplay and me trying my best to describe what you experience...see here https://youtu.be/Y-sT7n90hdM I'm clicking "yes" to recommend because I do not have the option to click "what the crap did I just play".
