Gem Wars is a fun competitive combat platformer with a few unique twists. An elemental system keeps the game fresh and ups the intensity as players scramble for the weapons and elements needed to take down the player in the lead. While numerous rule sets and modifiers let players tailor each round to their personal preference. Jumping is a bit floatier than in most games of this genre, changing the pace a lot. Its easier to line up shots in mid-air, but if you miss you are wide open for counter attack. Desperate wall jumping games of cat and mouse are a regular occurrence as you always forget the chaser is just as slow as you are, and expect the killing blow to land any second. This isn't just a multiplayer title either, which is a refreshing change. Sure you have both local and online multiplayer, but there is plenty of meat in the single player game too. Mix and match your equipment with an expansive arsenal of unique Tactical Arms (which include a teleporter, cement block-maker, homing beacon, bear trap dropper, swingable rope, shot-reflecting shield, magnetball that rips off enemy equipment and a claw that forces your opponents to wear whatever gem you want) and the extra-transportational Power Boots (jet boots for flying, rocket boots for speed and spike boots for stomping out enemies).

The Story:
The Jiblets were a benevolent species that inhabited the world of Septia. Due to overpopulation, a large portion of Jiblets were forced to move underground (these were appropriately referred to as The Descended). Years later, elemental gems and weaponry began sprouting around Septia. The Jiblets, never having experienced such power, became corrupt. War broke out.
Turns out that the appearance of the elemental gems and weaponry was all a scheme by The Descended, whose numbers have been decimated over the years due to similar infighting caused by the same gems. The exposure to the gems in their purest form have turned The Descended into deformed monstrosities with great power and intellect. The Descended have plotted to wipe out the unevolved Jiblets and replace them as the master race. By releasing the gems, The Descended let the Jiblets battle among each other, setting the Jiblets' own genocide in motion.

A more-than-capable single-screen brawler with an interesting rock-paper-scissors mechanic. The controls, while tight, take a moment to get used to, but after that you're golden. Couple all this with cutesy visuals and a fantastically low price-point and you have a winner.
A brawler that tries to change it up a little, but is ultimately marred by poor controls and confusing rulesets with bad explanations.

Had high hopes for this game as a local multiplayer brawler, but really disappointing. The default control options are terrible (D-pad instead of stick) and the gameplay is average at best. It's really more painful than fun to play. Almost everything is locked at the start, but you don't know what you're missing out on unless you have the patience to continue playing it. I would definitely recommend Megabyte Punch or StarWhal over this, these games at least have you hooked from the start.

Gem Wars: Attack of the Jiblets is a game that is hardcore in nature, it is because of its different variety of weapons to choose from, my favorite is the barrage (shotgun) paired up with the elements: fire, nature, electricity and water to make these weapons stronger. its a classic deathmatch between some creatures i think its called the jiblets, that will release your intuitive skills and your RAGGGGGEEEEE! Hormones! Let the games begin! I'll give it a 8/10
This game is awesome. Nuff said.
Fun game, I enjoyed the hectic nature of it. Cool art style and character designs. Hope to see it expanded in the future.
