This is an artistic clone of *Super Puzzle Fighter* from PS1 & a grandchild of classic Sega game Columns (1990) with strong competitive emphasis. It's basically a mix of tetris & match-3 concepts enriched with bonuses & tricky debuff techniques that you can throw at your rival (you earn them with your flawless performance) to clutter his field of action & make him fail in the hasty action. The most fun I get arise certainly from the cool design & brilliant animations - there is a bunch of original super-heroes (poking at usual cliches) brilliantly thought out & depicted with their themed rooms (where the matches take place), excellent voice-over signature phrases (often upsetting & mean in the most jolly way) & 'super-powers' they constantly harass you with. It can be played against the AI (which is very tough at the hardest difficulty) or humans in both local & online multiplayer modes, with joypad or keyboard.

I really wanted to recommand this game at first. A descent puzzler with nice comic books inspired graphics, various characters, a touch of humor... Mechanics are simple, you destroy color blocks on your side of the screen with special smash blocks, so you can fill your enemy's screen with random annoying blocks that cannot be destroyed along with your other blocks, for 5 turns. So, what's wrong with that game? Well these damn smash blocks appear randomly. And obviously at some point your opponent got shitloads of em, and you got none. That's not a big deal on easy difficulty (there's no challenge at all), but when you get to harder difficulties, AI gets cheated, and keeps sending you countdown blocks, without even destroying his owns. This makes no sence, winning a game gets more about luck than skills. I haven't raged this hard in a while. Besides, controls are not really good, and you cannot even bind your own keys... Yet, this is an early access, I still hope they'll make a goo...
A very nice indie rendition of Super Puzzle Fighter 2. Great characters, great music, and of course the gameplay is great too. The developers are still hard at work on the game and have been actively talking to the community. If you like puzzle games and Puzzle Fighter, this is a must-have for your library
After YEARS of searching both on Steam and the Google Play store, I finally found a Super Puzzle Fighter clone that lives up to the original! Music is great, animation is great, gameplay is fast, and specials gives game a jolt of fun. While the game is in Early Access --> the devs consider this their passion project and are still working towards a final build. As it is now, it is a stable/ great game! tl;dr: BUY NOW, THANK ME LATER - Strafe
Bought it at a 75% discount. I really liked the video on the main page. Reminded me of Dr. Mario, Columns III and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. So I thought - I'll give it a try. Aaaand.... I was really disappointed. This game has a nice concept, but is badly executed. First of all - you can't control the menus with a mouse and you can't rebind the keys. The music is way too intense and always the same. It gets tiresome very quickly. The block sound, when you move it around, are way too noticeable. It just doesn't blend in. Controls are not intuitive. Especially when you play the survival mode and the speed is very high. Survived nearly 13 minutes on the first try. Could have been longer, but the unresponsive controls made it hard to move the blocks where I wanted them... The core gameplay lacks depth. Every match feels literally the same. (I played Dr. Mario for years and that game is still more varied than this one). And the main reason I don't recommend this game is that ...
Pretty entertaining, kind of like tetris battle. The powerups are fun too.
I have played Super Puzzle Fighter for over 20 years now, on a very frequent basis. This game is clunky, confusingly overcomplicated, and totally missing the charm of SPF2. I appreciate the effort in them trying to release a modern non mobile version by totally ripping off puzzle fighter, but it just is no substitute what so ever. Stay away imo.
I was so exicted to see that kind of game exist on steam ! Like the famous Super Street Fighter Puzzle Turbo ! .... But once I played, it's really ridiculous : not a lot of gameplay, characters are useless, slow, no fun .... You'll play it few minutes after saying "ah ok .... Well ... Next ! " Too bad ... And very very expensive for what it is !
I'll keep it short: This game is a damned fine one based on the same principles as Super PuzzleFighter 2 Turbo. You choose a hero/villain and try to keep your playing field as free of blocks as possible. Get four blocks together? They become a super-block and deal massive damage when you land a block-buster on them. Additionally, each character has a special and an ultimate attack that you can trigger depending on how full the special gauge is. Each stage has an animated background and depending on how well you're doing your character's stance and such will change. Beware of opponent specials as quite a few can really change the playing style you need to use.
Thank you for achievements :D
