About the Game
Kittengumi: The Thief of the Sakabato is a visual novel that takes us to an alternative Japan (Gapon) where its protagonists, a cat and a panda who thinks he is a cat, will have to find the thief of the sakabato, one of the treasures of the Kittengumi -a group of samurai cats that watches over the security of Nyedo (Edo), to which they belong. This will be the first official mission of the characters and during this adventure, they will interact with many characters and, depending on the decisions, the story will develop along different paths, not all of them with a happy ending.
The Sakabato Thief is the first of a collection of visual novels that tell different stories starring the members of this group.
- Decide how the story progresses and find out the 10 different endings: Your decisions matter and will decide the path chosen by Ryuudama and Kumaneko. Will you manage to catch the thief? Will they come out unharmed? Will you meet all the characters?
- Everything drawn by hand: Our artist has drawn every character, every scenery and every part of the game with a lot of effort, care and love.
- Story with lore beyond the main game: This game is the premiere of a saga that will bring many adventures. The game is full of characters, references and lore beyond the main story.
- Follow the story from any unlocked scene: You will be able to resume the story from the scene selector and try all the variants without having to start from scratch each time.
- Soundtrack with Japanese instruments: The soundtrack is carefully created with period instruments that will accompany you throughout the adventure.

This game feels more like a demo than a full game. The design is great—whoever designed and drew the characters did an amazing job, and I really hope they continue producing more amazing works like these in the future. The general idea behind the story is fun, but I’m not sure if the execution is bad or if it’s the English translation that ruins the experience. The game makes translation mistakes, like calling a kitten a puppy, or at one point repeatedly mixing up "he" and "she" to the point where I was confused about who the characters were referring to. The game also feels like it was written by two separate people (not just the translation—the Spanish version does the same mistakes too). For example, a character laughs like "Hahaha, thanks", or they go "(laugh) thanks", or we get some details about a fight scene, or they just go "Ahhh" *sword clash sound* "Vamos!" *sword clash sound*. Another issue is the narrator. They keep explaining things that JUST happened on the scree...
I haven't really play the game fully yet and only have gotten the wrath ending so let me fill you in a bit. The game is a short Visual Novel following two people in search for the traitor among us. There's 3 chapters and 10 different endings. There's also characters that you can only find based on the ending route you're taking. The visual and writing is pretty fine to me. I can't say much because I'm not a really a visual novel player so the fact I even finished the game is something to achieve. It only took me 2 hours to complete a route probably because wrath route skipped chapter 2 and I didn't read as fast as your average novel readers. Still, there's one thing I have to point out which is the translation. It's readable yes but there's lots of mistranslation. Two female characters that I've known so far who is Michi and Azuki has been called by "he" several times but the male characters doesn't have the same problem. It's probably because it's translated from Spanish which is pro-...
