I'm guessing Super Crane Bug was designed as a block puzzle game with the "you may not want to but you must" weapon switching gimmick from seminal indie classic Super Crate Box. Crane Bug also seems to run native in the Pico-8 fantasy console, which imposes tight limitations on color palette, asset quantity, and even the amount of words in the code. With that said, Super Crane Bug comes pretty close to transcending its humble medium: although it eschews a larger campaign mode or any Steam Achievements, it does save your high scores in three separate game modes and includes an alternate visual style. A few notes: - The crane tool seems a little less useful than the others the later into the game you are. Because it can't lift more than four blocks at a time, it's mostly only able to arrange blocks one by one near the top of the stack. only a few cycles in, it's very easy to get this item when you're clogged up with junk blocks and not have any good options, and I've easily died more...

A fun little game to play in short bursts! As someone used to the Swap (Puzzle League-like) controls, I'm enjoying learning the rest - you have to look at the board in a completely different way every time you change tools. I like the way this change happens, too. You will have to cycle through eventually, but you can hold on to some tools for a bit longer, so it feels like there's some strategy and choice. Zen mode has been great for practising without much stress, and it's a pretty comfortable game to play with controller (though I switch to the D-pad for the Crane instead of the analogue stick, just for more controlled movement) I haven't tried the advanced tiles yet, but I'm looking forward to getting comfortable enough with the basic controls to do that!

Chill casual little puzzle game. Lovely to think this tiny game was made with PICO8 engine.

Fun music, slightly trollish powerups. It takes time to get used to the "vibe". The main gimmick of you having different tools to move the tileset will not let you move forward until you at least become decent at each of them. I you like puzzles games, give it a go! If you don't like puzzles, give it a go, too!

A really fun Match-3 type puzzle game. Reminds me a little of games like Doctor Mario. It can get pretty frantic as time goes on and as you cycle through the mechanics. Can't do much wrong for 7.79€, I reckon.

I love how this game shakes up the simplistic genre of match 3 games by using different methods of clearing, its incredibly engaging and a lot of fun, a great game to pick up for a few mins and see what score you can get, I would LOVE to see this idea explored further, amazing game.

I had already played this game in its itch.io release, and I had much fun playing it. The graphics and music match really well together. The mechanics also make this game stand out from other match3 games. It takes a few minutes to get used to them, but once you do, you will be playing for hours. Great game!
