Sadly, on September 10, 2025 this game will become abandonware. Updates have already ceased, developers have been laid off and online co-op will be disabled. It could have been a nice, cozy game with some quirks to iron out. Unfortunately as of now I cannot recommend buying it anymore.
I bought this game to play with my fiancé. I have had it for about a month. We bought it during the steam summer sale. We were really enjoying it but they are dropping multiplayer entirely in less than a month. There was no mention of this when I bought the game. They advertised this as a multiplayer game, and it is why we bought it. As of today, all of their promotional material on the steam page still heavily focuses on multiplayer (trailers, gameplay footage, and images). They "stealthily" removed all mention of multiplayer from the page like they didn't lie to everyone that bought the game previously, and recently, as a multiplayer game. I would have given this game a thumbs up but I can't knowingly support this game after what Phoenix Labs is doing to their customers and supporters.
I bought this game because I love cozy games, but mostly because I thought several of my friends would like to play this together with me, and we have! .................... And now we won't be able to. That was a huge portion of the game, and they're disabling that without even an explanation as to why? Nah. Do not buy this game - it's only been out for two years and they're already dropping support and removing a KEY feature of the game. Shame I can't refund it. I feel like I should be able to when the reason I got the game isn't going to remain.
Incredibly fun game, my wife and I really enjoyed the game. Unfortunately I must now do my due diligence and protect others. This is not the first game Forte Labs has destroyed after their conquest of Phoenix Labs. First they completely stripped apart and ruined Dauntless, now they leave us with a single player game and no way to play with friends even by hosting a server on your own ports. I promise you if they could have stripped this game down to absolutely nothing, made you buy all of your farm and tool upgrades, buy every cosmetic, buy your faerie wings, all with real cash. They would have done it without any regret. I will now leave a small snippet from my scathing review on Dauntless to serve as a plea and a warning for anyone that comes after and finds this game, or any game owned by former Phoenix Labs before Forte Labs came and ruined it all. This has to stop, we can not continue to support this or we will continue to lose everything. "Please if you care even the tiniest b...
Who stealth bombs their multiplayer servers going down on the steam store page's description? If it's important make it more obvious. Private servers are not an impossible thing yet this was the option you guys chose. Stop Killing Games isn't getting popular for no reason. If it's expensive for developers to make a game playable after they abandon it, It's also expensive for players to be purchasing games to then discard them later unwillingly.
I loved this game so much and would have recommended it but they are taking away multiplayer and future updates so I would not recommend this game. I’m truly disappointed don’t waste your money.
It's really a shame that the narrative, NPCs, and quests are so dull because the gameplay is LIGHT YEARS beyond the competition. This may be the first farming sim that doesn't just copy Stardew verbatim and assume that that's good gameplay. There are an astounding number of quality of life choices. Movement and mining is actually fun. You can craft potions that impact the gameplay. Combat is slightly less than terrible which is really good for this genre. In terms of the actual gameplay loop, this game is incredible. But as others have said, the dialogue is nauseatingly boring. The characters might as well not even exist. The quests are utterly pointless and don't even reward you anything. A lot of them are literally just "go talk to that guy" and when you do it's like "woooohoooo quest completed! Great job!".... why? So if you can just ignore all the stuff that would give a game like this some amount of soul, the rest of it is really fun.
Love this game, loved playing it with my partner as a happy little after work game, now that they're taking away multiplayer, there's no point in us playing it, major regret with buying it :( Would like to know why Phoenix Labs couldn't have future proofed and made a lan functionality.
Overall a cute and fun game. However, if you are looking at this for multiplayer, BUYER BEWARE. The multiplayer of Fae Farm is being discontinued as of SEPTEMBER 10th, 2025. It has been online approximately two years. There was no news indication for this. They just switched the game's description on Steam. WTF happened here?! This is unacceptable. Companies should not be encouraged to behave in this manner. If looking for a cute co-op game with fantasy and cozy vibes, I would suggest FANTASY LIFE i: THE GIRL WHO STEALS TIME instead.
