About This Game

Arcades as they once existed are all but dead. Personally, we thought that sucked. The Hope's End Arcade is our attempt to revive the feel and spirit classic arcade games for the modern era. We want to deliver fast, chaotic experiences that don't require committing to investing an hour or longer to play a single session of a game. We want to provide games that deliver the arcade experience you remember (but with the benefit of more modern game design mechanics and concepts).

So we invite take a walk with us into our (virtual) arcade. See if there's a game (or several) that strike your fancy. You can purchase each game individually as DLC for Hope's End, like adding a new arcade cabinet to your collection. We're not out to charge you quarter by quarter like the arcades of old, once the game's yours, it's yours for good. You can play two of the ability sets in our first game, The Psions, for free to take the concept for a spin.

So why not take a break and enjoy a game or two? Soak in the atmosphere of a bygone era. Enjoy the havoc and the freedom that a bit of classic arcade chaos can bring, unconstrained by levels, progression, daily missions, or other nonsense that just distracts from the pure fun where it's just you and the game.

A Grand Slam game, a complete refresher to the tower defense genre, absolutely hit all the marks for me. A little sarcasm and comedy, an interesting twist on human fate, and gameplay that is immediately engaging and ramps up quickly.  Some of the best parts for me include "No Hopes" where you can greatly modify the gameplay by enabling difficulty modifiers and, in various combinations, create a completely different experience. I was super fortunate and got access to the beta for a bit as well as the playtest weekend. I saw some discussion in the game's official Discord during the playtest weekend, and the developers seemed very engaged and willing to make the game the best experience for players possible. I came away from that chomping at the bit for a chance to own uninterrupted access to the game and with excitement for the possible future of the game, as the roadmap shows some pretty awesome potential that I cannot wait to see come to fruition.   Now, not to take away from my ov...

I am giving this game a positive review in part due to the price. If it were more expensive I would have expected far better art/UI and just overall polish. I know it is a small team and early access, but those things did immediately stand out. Having said that, I am glad I bought the game. The gameplay loop quickly got me hooked on upgrading the Armory and Research and unlocking new things. I am a sucker for progress, unlocks, prestige and all that crap. I was looking for a game where I can just blow off steam after work without being stressed out or PVPing and this is scratching that itch for me. Kinda like VS but I like the power creep and progression this has for me to chase

Im pretty sure the other reviews are fake, i got tempted in by my love of wave defence / tower defence. And the reviews high play times (some have 100s of hours in the week since release). But there is no way people played it this much, its tower defence with 3 preset locations you can place the tower, and its not a choice, you can build all 3. The rest of the game is mashing the 1 - 9 keys to cast abilities. Some ability sets are "harder" then others, but that doesn't mean you have to be more skilled to use it, the meta progression is power creep, so you have to level up to be able to use them (but the easy ones presumably scale with the meta progression too so why would you if the goal is to get further next time?)

Fun tower defense game, though the initial learning is a bit rough because everything is thrown at you at once, it's ultimately pretty simple. My only complaints are the menu music being at too loud a default volume, and how hard it can be to locate those guys that damage all of your buildings. (I've spent the entire timer looking and still failed to find it, multiple times.) It could use some real death animations, and more impressive/notable animations in general. As it is, it isn't super impressive, but it is definitely a solid tower defense game and the amount of upgrades and modifiers should keep it interesting in my free time.

Quite chaotic UI. No / bad tutorial. Progression seems to be focused around deleting your permanent progression for a marginal permanent permanent gain. Quite frankly: feels terrible to play. Much better games in the genre to spend your time and money on.

I love games with a lot of progression that I can sink time into at my own pace. I don’t care too much about amazing graphics or anything, which this game certainly does not have, as long as the gameplay is fun and I have goals to unlock. There are already a ton of things to unlock here and from the roadmap post it sounds like there will be even more. I don’t usually care enough to review games but was happy with how cheap this game was for the amount of progression there already is in Early access so what the hell. I doubt it is for everyone but certainly will have a good niche audience I think. Oh and Val gave me some Claptrap vibes which always gives me some great memories. I am sure there are plenty of people that will hate her, but I liked the humor it adds. Might get old after a while, will see.

Still early, but I did not like what I see so far. I dislike tower defense games where you have to scroll a lot, and this one puts you on a decent sized map with 3 entrances to defend right away, and I spent my first game scrolling around trying to figure out where to place towers, and you only get set tower positions, which usually sucks. Felt like you were more dependent on using powers than placing towers.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this game when I originally saw it but it looked like it might scratch that wave defense itch I was having and for less than $5 I figured why not. Cons Initially the game didn’t feel nearly challenging enough (I chose normal and didn’t have any No Hope modifiers on yet) As mentioned above the art style is pretty basic Took me a few runs to understand the loop and feel that reward cycle kick in Single map (roadmap says additional map is coming so this might just be an Early Access thing) You can tell it is an indie team with the spell effects and animations Pros Very quickly felt like there were lots of unlocks and upgrades for me to chase Every run i felt like I got better but immediately knew how I could do better next time I found myself saying “one more run” a lot, which is exactly what I want from a game like this Val is just my type of humor, I may get sick of her after 100 runs but right now I still chuckle. (would like to see ...

Good tower-defense. Its a fresh take on the tower defense genre that allows the player to be much more involved during then waves than your standard tower defense.
