About This Game

Zellige : The Tilemaker of Granada is a meditative and relaxing historical game, set in medieval Al-Andalus, where you play as a skilled tilemaker and design intricate Islamic mosaic patterns to decorate a merchant family's palace.

You will be able to create a various array of mosaics in all styles, following traditional techniques or let your creativity flow !

We really aim to bring you a calm experience, the sort of game you can play to unwind after a long day at work, and to get that sense of satisfaction that comes with creating something of your own. The palace is a fully explorable 3D environment, which you can walk around and admire in first-person. While doing so, you'll be able to talk to its inhabitants, the Dhahbans. They are a wealthy, well-travelled merchant family, and their home is filled with souvenirs and artefacts from across the Islamic world which will help you find inspiration and learn new techniques!

Very pleasant game, two hours went by in the blink of an eye ! I particularly liked decorating the floor tiles in the garden (very relaxing and felt like a far tinier / cosier Alhambra) Lots of options to dig deeper in the tilemaking arts, I felt like I only scratched the surface but when I compare my mosaics to those in the tutorials (and to the historical examples offered) there is a lot of room for progression / discovery ! I also loved the historical perspective and the accuracy of the color palets (cohesive, and expand progressivly during the game). Will play again !

I love this game so much!! I started out by making meme mosaics of kirby and other video game characters but then I realised how relaxing and fun it was to make actual geometric designs. I love that it's educational in a way that doesn't talk down to you. It doesn't force you to do anything but play, however, I found myself googling the different items in the game and learning a lot. Well done to the team for making such a well crafted game :)

This game is a really nice recurring distraction. Especially if you are a fan of the medieval era, islamic culture and/or Andalusia. Being a fan of all three, buying this game was a no-brainer for me. It's really nice to try to replicate historical patterns by trial-and-error. There are just two things, which are really badly needed in the game: 1. an 'undo-function'. The more intricate the pattern is, the harder it is to correct small mistakes via the erasure tool. Something like Ctrl+Z would be immensely useful and would help to avoid frustration. 2. a function to use an already created pattern on another wall. As of now you have to open the old pattern in the editor and save it again, which sometimes leads to you having the same pattern three times in your book. A bonus would be a greater diversity in background music. Maybe a nice oud piece? Then again of course there is nobody, who forbids me from muting the game and playing Recuerdos de la Alhambra in loop or listening to some ...

A fun/relaxing experience so far, I'm enjoying seeing how the patterns turn out in the palace. I like that there are historical mosaic patterns to learn available from the start!

Guys, honestly, even if it's not the game of the year, there's something really captivating and ... hypnotic? The gameplay is very light and lacks flexibility. But the mosaics you make, whether they are complex or even disconcertingly simple, offer a stunning result. It's quite satisfying. It's worth a try ( :
