I loved Paper Perjury, a lot! It's a very charming game that clearly wears its inspirations on its sleeves, but that is not a bad thing at all. 5 cases starring punny named characters, with presenting evidence, breakdowns, and what's essentially testimonies and cross-examinations. But it all does it in a way that feels unique enough and like it has its own identity. I do wish pressing for information didn't solely give flavour text, but I also understand that this was done to make things less obtuse than in AA. I hope some kind of balance can be found in future DLC cases or games, as in the end I never really pressed once I realised it never made direct headway. I really loved the characters in this. Everyone has a distinct voice and charm to them, and their relationships all feel natural and believable. And I think that's the game's biggest strength: how believable it all feels. I love AA's over the top presentation and stylisation. I love how ridiculous and grandiose its cases ...

(The tl;dr: Good enough to recommend, but not as charming as other VNs in this genre.) It’s hard for me to pin down how I feel about this game. The writing feels more down-to-earth than Ace Attorney overall, but the characters feel inconsistent sometimes, with the occasional bit of fun character design or exaggerated reaction not meshing well with the overall tone. They lack the same level of memorable charm that most AA characters have. The story also tries, with earnest, to tackle current-day topics, but I feel like it’s misguided in some places, even if its heart is in the right place. The mysteries don’t always feel well-constructed, either, certainly not with the level of focus Ace Attorney pulls off. I can forgive this because of the small size of the development team, but I also feel that the story is just too ambitious for a first game, and it stumbles in places where I think a lot could have been handled better. With that said, I do like the interconnected feeling of a...
This is such a hidden gem on Steam! I loved the depth that each case went into, and the charm each character that got introduced brought to the game (Sophie and Ferris especially!). Can't wait for the 6th case!!!
Game is alright til about case 4, then it's just a bunch of lesbian flirting and some trans character just for the sake of telling me I guess. The plot between the cases is interconnected and most of the writing holds up but it went from a mystery game to some girl power fantasy and that's not what I paid for, ace attorney, murders on the yangtze, and Tyrion Cuthbert were much better games overall. I feel like I'm playing the guilty gear strive of VN Edit: having completed the game here in no particular order I will list some of the things I found extremely dumb. 1. There's a fairly consisent background push of men bad women good. That's whatever except even when the women commit crimes there's some deeper reason. The closest we get to condemnation is probably the 3rd case. Even the guy helping orphans doesn't get the same treatment. 2. Justina is sending criminals away to jail but is anti gun, most cops, yes even the female ones realize that doing that to someone makes them a targ...
