I've actually heard about the Hinterkaifeck Murders before seeing the game since I love true crime. I thought the game did a good job of staying somewhat true to the story with obvious added horror elements. The ONLY complaint I had during my playthrough was the how dark the cabin was, but he fixed it with the most recent update so no complaints from me! I wish there were more horror games about true crime and unsolved mysteries!

User Reviews
I cannot recommend this game in any way. It has no checkpoints so when you die you have to start the game again, which is tedious and even more so with the insipid and poor development of the plot. The only good thing is the setting that is acceptable.
This is my experience playing this game https://youtu.be/VX6fftuTxEQ very interesting story in this game, taken from a criminal case The tense atmosphere coupled with some jumpscares and quick actions make this game exciting
Really cannot recommend the game as it is. Definitely not polished and rather buggy. The area just after the prologue is so dark that it is nearly impossible to make it out of your own bedroom. I gave up relatively shortly in after roaming around looking for the fireplace to light to advance the story in a pitch black house. There is also a strange mechanic where you have seconds to take a photo to stop a "stalker" which if you fail to do quickly is met with a game over screen stating you have been killed by a bear attack. Odd. The game has a nice retro aesthetic and interesting enough lore but needs some work before being playable. It is lacking the basics and currently has no options to adjust any settings at all, graphics or otherwise, let alone simple brightness or gamma.
Not too bad if you can avoid all of the numerous game-breaking bugs that have to chance of ever being fixed. The story is really the saving grace of this game, but that alone makes it worth a play in my opinion. https://youtu.be/DtarvhQWh9w
The bear segment is bugged, had to restart once already and it broke again. I'll wait to improve my review when it's fixed.
