Dreams in the Witch House

This game fully exceeded my expectations in every way. The pixel art is gorgeous and crunchy, and the game is full of grimy mystery, horrifying mundanity and whispers just out of earshot. I got my character killed a few times, but learning is part of the fun, as is pouring over texts in the library trying to study for exams, and saving up my money to take my mind of university stress to go for a much needed coffee with a friend. Or indeed, ditching the stated objectives to go full blown insane diving into the madness of my academic paper about the occult, staking out a mysterious island at night when I know I should be sleeping, and chasing dreams of an old woman no one had seen. A very good game, if a little punishing and obtuse. But there are multiple save slots and many events are randomised so repeat playthroughs are enjoyable as you grasp what the game wants from you.

Amazing adventure with resource management and day night cycle. Addicting gameplay loop that makes you want to discover more and adds more little by little. Finished the game once now and certainly trying again for better ending.
