About This Game

Take your chess game beyond the limits of a physical board! Non-Euclidean Chess is a chess engine which supports custom board types - many of which defy traditional movement rules, or even physical limitations.

Non-Euclidean Chess is also the only chess game where you can play with any number of players. Do you and 100 of your best friends want to play? We can't promise it will be quick, but you can do it!

Choose from the following gamemodes:
  • N-Player Chess
  • Hyperbolic (Poincare Disk) Chess
  • Cubic Chess
  • Toroidal Chess
  • Battle Royale Chess
  • Chesseract
  • Growth Chess
  • Slider Chess

Plus many more modes and minor variations!

Way too unpolished to be in Early Access. The UI is very clunky, and the 3d view has extremely poor piece legibility, largely because of the poor lighting setup. The actual modes of play are quite buggy, in particular the sliding chess. You can slide tiles one under another, are sometimes not allowed to slide into valid positions, and I've been able to effectively pass my turn by "sliding" a tile in place. The concept is great, but the implementation is just too poor to be enjoyable. At least it's cheap, so you are not losing much by trying this I guess.

Pretty dang good. I want knights to jump over gaps in Slider Chess. But, other than that I'm just looking forward to more. Kinda funky how there's 4d chess, aptly named Chesseract, but no 3d or 1d which seem much easier to implement and understand.

Needs more updates, especially optimization. The rest of my reviews are wacky in some way, so: The FitnessGram Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. Students begin at the starting line. Once the test begins, the running speed starts slowly, but gets faster each minute after you hear the signal (beep).

I enoyed it quiet a bit! There are definitely too less non-euclidean games.

Just like many other reviewers said, the game is filled with issues. Growth mode WILL crash, no exceptions, the 3d mode is too sensitive on the mouse and inverted with no way to fix the inversion making it unusable (you can change the sensitivity). And the chess AI is so dumb its not even fun. Also there are bugs and issues with the chess part, like when the AI opponent got a pawn to the end, I got to choose what it promoted to. And in some game modes the top of the chess board reaches the 2D/3D button so you just can't move there. Overall, its unplayable. Cool concept, but poorly executed. The 3d models and polish on the menus is nice though. And as a fellow godot dev, its cool that you used the engine but man, this is not the non-euclidean chess I was hoping for.

I want to like this game, but I just can't bring myself to enjoy it. All "growth" games consistently crash the game. You can control what piece black pawn's promote to when playing singleplayer. At times you can even control where black's pieces move. The chess AI is very weak. You can take any piece of yours and start being as oppressive as you want to your opponents. They literally won't stop your capturing spree unless their king is in check. All in all, needs a lot more polish. I genuinely love the idea of the game and I think it has a lot of potential. Not worth the 10 CAD.
