It's C&C with more gamemodes. There's a fully fleshed out campaign, skirmish, tower defense, and survival. It is very early access, so there are some pretty nasty bugs that will affect your gameplay, but surprisingly enough not in the performance or stability department. It's more things like UI elements taking longer to trigger than they should and the occasional unit getting stuck on a building. The AI works really well, sticks to the same rules you do and actually rebuilds its bases if it has the money. You can do strategies like, choking their external supply depots, rushing transports into their power fields and deactivating their buildings, which is great. They do actually effectively respond to you, making battles more a test of strategy than A-moving the enemy base. This can always be overcome by throwing *more* units at the problem, but that isn't a very effective way to get it done and is more likely to result in an attrition grind until you have no resources.
