One thing that I find narrative adventure games ("walking simulators") are quite good at is giving you a little taste of a time and place. When a developer puts in the effort, they can truly transport you to a culture and a time period that you have not experienced before. Bright Lights of Svetlov has a story to tell you, and in order to tell it, they drop you into the menial tasks of day to day life in Svetlov, USSR, in the early-to-mid 1980s. Once I realized that this was going to be the core loop of the game, finding things around the apartment and doing chores while the story was subtly told in the background through newspapers, letters, and voice over, I immediately knew that I was going to like this game. If you are going into it looking for something more action- or puzzle-oriented, you should be aware that it is simply not that kind of experience.
