About This Game

The year is 2762 and you are Meeygen Hill, a tough as nails P.I., working in the neighbourhoods of one of the last major cities of North America. Life is all truant kids and cheating spouses until a dame barges in from the Risen City and changes your life. Her sister has been murdered and the cops are useless. It’s up to you to find out whodunit and it seems like this case go way further up than the banks of this one detective’s little neighbourhood in this Indigenous cybernoir narrative detective game.

What would our world look like on the brink of freedom from colonial oppression? Find out in this heart-pounding and atmospheric Indigenous cybernoir detective game! Play as Meeygen Hill, a hardboiled detective working in a thriving Indigenous (Néhinaw) Metropolis under the shadow of the towering NeXt Corps space elevator and it’s Risen City of elite citizens. Find yourself drawn deeper into conspiracy and intrigue after you take on the seemingly straightforward case of a murdered elite.

Visit an Indigenous Future

Explore a never before seen cybernoir Indigenous future in a world inspired by pulpy noir mysteries, Ghost in the Shell, and Blade Runner. Immerse yourself in a world filled with colourful characters and saturated in the Cree language done up in neon. Wander the streets of Hill's beloved city or brave the deceptively bright Risen City and perhaps discover the origin of the shadow that looms over them both.

Be the Thinking Machine

In the Hill Agency You’re not just playing a detective, you are one. The game doesn't tell you if you are on the right track or even have the right perp, that's all on you. Uncover clues and find new witnesses and suspects by wandering the streets. Use the tools at your disposal to connect the clues and then make your accusations, if you have the nerve.

Grow Your Connections

There's more to this than going at it lone wolf style. Build Hill's networks back up and learn even more about the world and it's workings. Find ancient search terminals to uncover a history long forgotten to everyone, even the Risen City itself.

A detective game where you don't have to play a cop!

i really recommend this game, it's got a cool style, interesting story, and plenty of intrigue -- there were some game-breaking bugs in previous versions of the game, so you may have seen some confused twitch streamers playing the game, but fortunately the developers have continued to support the game and as of patch 1.03 i was able to play through the entire story without any major issues! How fast you read and how much you walk around to check things out will influence how quickly you get through the story, but I'd say the game is around 3 hours long, and very much worth your time!

A gorgeous cyber-noir point and click that lovingly weaves Indigenous elements into every interaction. The game mechanics are well chosen and integrate well into the world with expectations of player engagement and thinking, though at times the interfacing can feel clunky due to the slower pace of the game and lack of key functions map in the settings. The humor and pretty streamlined dialogue was a welcome sight, with dialogue trees feeling well laid out and in line with the character's personality. Overall I appreciate the slow pace and belief in the audience to figure things out as we take in the beautiful world of Hill Agency.

I haven't played a detective-style game since the early 2000s and I am happy to say that I was not disappointed. Hill Agency is reminiscent of the fantastic Grim Fandango, with its beautifully designed scenes and unique neo-noir style. The black and white contrasted with touches of color appeals to the visual senses. As I explored each area, I often found myself admiring the scene, even wanting to explore more. Whether it was intentional by design or just part of the overall artistic vision, credit to the designers is due, as this is the type of style you want in a detective game where you are looking for clues. As the story progresses through each case, I felt that the dialogue between characters was well written, enjoyable, and kept me interested. The characters were well developed, and I wanted to discover more about them. The pacing and flow was smooth and I never felt unnecessarily interrupted during my adventure. At the time of playing, there were a few small bugs, but nothing...

The game is off to a fun start. It has a beautiful vibe with futuristic story elements, and a noire style of cinematography, packing into an indigenous detective game where you need to search everything hunting for clues but with a very mellow sound track. The first detective case is a simple yet delightful getting to know the game story with low stakes / pressure. Once that is completed things quickly step up with a serious crime that engages you, and yet feels like it should be very solvable based on the skills you have already developed from the first case. I personally highly recommend.
