About the Game

After slaying some spire, the taverns of Slash Roll are the ideal place to rest and play this dice pouch-building rogue-like with original mechanics.

Features

  • Pouch-building - Unlock and collect unique dice to build powerful combos suiting each play-style
  • Master the odds - Choose wisely your moves for optimal effects or trick your dice to have them roll your lucky number
  • Generated world - Never go twice through the same experience, adventuring with a different face in a new tavern at every game

A game with dice in a pouch

In Slash Roll, you do not play with a deck of cards, but with a pouch of dice.
Every dice (with 6 faces or not) with unique effects and serving different purposes can help or curse you in your quest.
If you are familiar with the rogue-like deck-building genre, you will recognize some of its codes, while discovering new mechanics inherent to the random property of the dice.
You might be of the safe type, avoid to take risk and focusing on defence, the optimistic type, hoping for the best while building strong combos, or the calculating type, evaluating precisely the statistical value of each move.

A strange world

May you be the mighty Hero spending their well deserved leisure time, a rich traveller amazed by the wonders of the world or a drunkard spending their last penny in the worst ale of the county, you will enter, with a new face every time, a procedurally generated tavern where you will meet weird characters of various kinds before reaching the counter to address the tavern-keeper.

While Slash Roll has a lot of potential as a Rogue-like deck builder, it clearly lacks polish and could have used more time in development. The game's interface is serviceable but often unclear and doesn't draw the player to important elements. A handful of minor but significant bugs remain such as dice clipping into objects and becoming obscured from mouse control. While these bugs can be worked around it makes the game feel unfinished. The game play itself is rather enjoyable, the character builds a pouch of dice and draws them to create various effects by either dropping them into the player's bowl or their opponent's bowl, effectively targeting that character with their effects. An interesting feature is that player's currency is also considered a die and is drawn from the die pool, making one have to balance their wealth acquisition for future dice with the need to have a consistent "deck". The lack of polish with this system sadly quickly ruins the potential fun the game ha...

Great replay value: None of the runs through the taverns are the same. Every new die, modifier, character and opponent you unlock brings new game mechanics and new ways to use the dice you already have. Good mix of choices & chance ...and ways to trick chance. This game is about pouchbuilding, dice rolling, unlocking everything and finding new combinations - some effects can be amusing! ...and the tavern atmosphere. Crashed a couple of times, but I was always able to load back in where I was.

I think this game is really hard to play. It is really unclear what the dice effects and character effects are. Despite playing for a while now I really can't figure out any clear strategy. It really isn't fun, just hard. Also the graphics make reading some of the writing really difficult. I am not at all impressed. I keep trying, but I just don't get it at all.

Great deck building (dice building) game. Similar style and structure to Slay the spire type. A lot of strategy is involved with what kind of playstyle you're working on and good variety of options. Couple minor complaints about the bonuses (relics) not being option when you get it, I've gotten some that completely ruin my build, would love to see an option to skip the reward. Also the dice / coins that move other dice would be nice if they couldn't move themselves, almost impossible to build a strategy around using them since they more often then not move to a different bowl when you intend to use them for defense. With a little polish, this game will be even better. Side note: After 9 hours of playtime, only ran into 1 bug (happened 3-4 times but not bad at all) was and issue with the end turn never being available and getting stuck in a battle with no rerolls, nor energy and all the dice were done with their effects, but couldn't end turn.

I have been playing this game for years and it keeps being interesting, love the concept. I wish the concept could be explored further
