About This Game

Hyper Scuffle is a decidedly bizarre 2D fighting game with fluid gameplay and a minimalist style. Each of its nine fighters is designed to be easy to understand, but complicated to master. Play against up to 4 players in local or online multiplayer!

Features:

  • nine fighters, each with their own unique abilities and play styles
  • a simple, vibrant art style inspired by early arcade games
  • interesting fighting mechanics not present in other games (such as screen wrapping and infinite player mobility)
  • three gamemodes: Classic, Contest, and Spectrum
  • XBox controller support
  • local, LAN, and online multiplayer
  • 15 subjectively gorgeous maps
  • AI for every fighter
  • more than 17 bugs and errors to discover
  • created by one guy over ~300 hours
  • costs over 50% less than a cup of coffee
  • could probably run on a potato

A fun and odd little fighting game that i would reccomend to anyone who likes local multiplayer games like gang beast or overcooked.

For the price it's set at, Hyper Scuffle is a great little experience to check out for a couple hours and leave smiling. I'm in love with the aesthetic of the game, which seems to take notes from the retro stylings of games like VVVVVV. You'll not find much in terms of settings or configuration, but to be fair the game doesn't really need it. With a download size of under 50MB and charmingly simplistic graphics any computer that can run Steam should be able to run it. It did support my XBONE controller natively, but I didn't have a PS4 controller with me to test so I can't speak about that compatibility. Gameplay is a bit wonky in some ways. The nine characters are very unique and each have a different set of abilities - Speera can charge with her spear to a previous...

Very silly, cute and fun. I love the chiptuney music and design of characters, and their different mechanics. You do have to port forward to play online, and you'll need someone's IP to join a random game, but once you figure that out, it's a blast with friends!

Played for a bit with some friends, interesting mechanics. Definitely will be good at a Lan party. I kinda wish there was a bit larger of a level so it can let some characters shine more but overall it's great for the price you pay. Definitely would recommend!
