About This Game

Chieftain is a fantasy game of world conquest - containing elements of a procedurally generated 4X world, and real-time skirmishes including hundreds of soldiers on screen battling for your dominion and reign to be supreme!

- Choose from 7 fantasy races.
- Each playthrough feels unique with a new procedurally generated world map.
- Maintain a healthy economy, and purchase new troops for your armies.
- Conduct diplomacy in worlds of up to 80 AI nations.
- Conquer foreign lands, and defend your own from your enemies.
- Battles are conducted on procedurally generated maps.
- Use tactical cunning to outwit your enemy.
- Multiple unit types available, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.

Your goal is to defeat all those in your way and conquer the world.

Are you ready to become a Chieftain?

How to Play

Create armies, settlers and builders to conquer the world map.
Build farms, villages, lumberyards and iron mines for resources, or create a web of alliances and enemies to conquer them from others.
Recruit different types of troop, everything from peasants to musketmen; each with their own strengths and weaknesses.

The time will come to fight battles. When a battle is initiated, the game switches to Battle mode - and your troops appear on a battle map awaiting your orders.
Use tactics to your advantage, use swift moving cavalry to attack your enemy from the rear, or cheap disposable peasants to keep your enemy occupied while you deal with their bowmen.

Be careful! Once your troops are engaged in melee it will be hard to disengage them.
Just like a real battle, your soldiers can become tired (dropping their speed), or become overwhelmed with fear, forcing them to flee the battlefield.

The World

The worlds in Chieftain are made up of scores of nations from 7 distinct races.

Humans have inhabited these lands since days immemorial.

Goblins are an evil, hunchbacked race of demons.

The Kioha are a tribe of undead, spawns from the nethers of Hell.

Freyja are an odd entity originally from the snow-lands.

Draco are cold-hearted lizard-serpents.

A race of beasts of burden, the Vacca are tough warriors.

Cunning and sly, the Lupin are a wolf-like creature.

Umm... yeah. A decent game. Decently enraging. The game sucks as of now, so I will present some defects and suggestions for the dev (mixed up) below this (in a pastebin since somehow the POST button disappears if my message is long, without warning). If you are a passerby just do not touch that "Purchase" button... for now. https://pastebin.com/X4fhsJ8M #Little update: The graphics were updated. The last thing I wanted the dev to focus on. Anyway, now coming back to the game... the music fits very well and might be one of the few + points, and I'm sorry to not have mentioned (at least) it.

So when I got the game I was pretty excited to try something new and to my suprised I like it! getting to choose your faction's race and name it to whatever you want is really cool I like how you mix civ and total war elements and I love it but the one thing I hate are the camera controls it too wonky for me but thats my opinion. A game like this is something I wanted from a total war game but never got it so if anyone sees this review you should try its $5.00 and I think you'll enjoy it.

Nice little game for the price, I think it has a HUGE amount of potential, the new graphic updates shows a sign of love for his game and a good sign from the developer. I haven't had tech issues yet though their complaints of them, regardless, hopefully the developer will continue to tweak and polish what could be a very nice little game, it's fun as is and I think it can be a great little piece of work if the dev keeps working on it. I've enjoyed the mechanics, especially faction customization, and I think it could be a very nice little game. Here's to hoping it continues to improve.

Unfortunately, I must advise people not to buy this game. It looked promising, as a sort of Total War/Civilization low-poly hybrid. It is a very small game and did not take long to download, so I was able to start playing immediately. With that being said, I was able to experience all of it's many flaws and bugs immediately. So what's good about the game? -It is in fact a TW/Civ hybrid, and that's quite fun if you're into that game. -It's not an intensive game so most computers can run it. -Neat concept, not original, but interesting nonetheless Ok, so that's what it had going for it, here's what it didn't have going for it: -Uninteresting factions. -Confused AI (They would declare war, then ask for a peace treaty, then buff up and declare war, then ask for a peace treaty, all in the matter of a few turns). -Buggy real-time play. -Freezes occasionally. -Buggy gameplay overall (Settlers won't settle, builders won't build, all of that jazz) -Camera bugs All in all I'm upset I did...

I know I only have about an hour on record but that's sadly because I felt I saw everything there was. Is that bad? No, not at all given the circumstances of this game. My main gripe with it is usability I don't know If I'm just stupid (its a fair possiblity) or what because I couldn't figure out the camera beyond rotation, zoom and strafe. I also feel that a keybind window or just a place to veiw the controls would be helpfull in this regaurd. Beyond that Its really just add more stuff and polish. But this is definetly a game I will be following. For those who want to know what it is its prettymuch a love child between total war and Civ. The things I would love to see in the future possibly implemented (Mind you these are ideas and I understand that if they are done it could take ages I have no problem with that) -Tech Tree -Multiplayer (And not like master of orion did it where it forced auto battle) -Unit costomization But in summary a really intresting game and I am sure that no ...

Man, I'm sorry. I HATE to do this because it's such a neat game, kind of a Civ Lite. Battle resolution needs a TON of work. Outnumbered *peasants* defeated my knights. And when the battle was down to my 87 troops to the enemy's (fleeing) 5, I clicked auto-resolve to get it over with -- and LOST. Please fix the battle resolution. It's just plain bad.
