User Reviews
Right, as a lifelong gamer and newbie game developer, this is my first review ever. I felt compelled to write this, not because it's a good or bad game, but because my feelings are so mixed. I first bought this game on Xbox and I played it all the way through. I've completed all of the story lines, side quests and challenges. If you're playing this game on a console or the PC version without mods, let me just say this: the highs are highs and the lows are lows. Experiencing Hogwarts for the first time on this game truly has you in awe. The problem is that towards the second half of the game, you barely spend any time there. To that end, the map is way bigger than I think anyone anticipated. For people who really love to explore, this is something that you'd enjoy. Personally though, I would've enjoyed having a smaller map with a few big cities as opposed to just Hogsmead. Some of the towns, though they are unique in nature, start to feel a bit copy and pasted with how equally small...
Hogwarts Legacy absolutely nails the atmosphere. The open world is seriously gorgeous! I've spent hours just exploring and still keep stumbling across new beautiful areas. The gameplay mechanics and spell system are a lot of fun. If you figure out the right spell combos, you can do high damages and have a smooth combat. But even if you just go with whatever spells you like the game doesn't make it hard for you and you can still enjoy the combat. There’s a ton of cool lore callbacks too! like Nearly Headless Nick, the Fat Lady, Peeves, etc. It crashed a few times but nothing too frequent. also sometimes it got stuck on the main loading screen for like 5–10 minutes before launching but once I was in, the game ran smoothly with no issues.
I can't believe two years out the game actually runs and looks worse than when it did when it first came out. This is just bad.
Adorable, beautiful game with very cute animals, an awesome atmosphere, and wonderful graphics<3
This game is an unfinished mess that cannot decide what it wants to be. The opening is great. The first 5 hours feel absolutely magical, and all of the characters are really well designed and endearing. The combat is fun and engaging. However, it doesn’t last. The side quests are disappointing and feel cut short, the main story is nonsensical and frankly in bad taste, it also keeps shifting between fun whimsy and gritty warcriminal activities. If I have to hear “your blood is on Ranroks hands” one more time after brutally murdering a goblin I will actually lose it. The combat gets incredibly boring after a while because there are less than 10 enemy variations. The world is bloated with unnecessary content to inflate playing time. I don’t want a crafting system for gear in a bloody wizarding game. Now most importantly of all YOU BARELY GET TO GO TO CLASSES AT ALL. Half of the open world doesn’t have meaningful content anyways, the time spent on crafting it could have bee...
TLDR: If you can get this game on a good sale for 10ish bucks, its a nice way to relax and play some wizzardy thingy. full price its a big nah nah. The game has some fun gameplay and combat feels good and is engaging at first. I am sure for HP enthusiasts this is a good game. OK, so why a negative review? I dont even know where to start... The game even though it is open world feels verry linear since your progress and why you can do/ unlock is tied to the main story. Now this is the case for most open world RPG. But usually you dont know what there is to unlock in a game until you get it (and therefore never miss it) In this game you see exactly what u can get at some point. This makes you feel like you miss out. So you start to hassle through the main story to get your stuff like pets, broom, your zoo, plants etc. Everything is always a carrot dangeling in front of your face pushing you to just rush through main story. This makes th open world feel very linear to me. Next p...
The graphics are great and the world looks beautiful. However, somehow it still feels empty due to the plain, hollow characters and repetitive gameplay.
I started playing because my girlfriend likes this universe. We re-watched several films, I saw her launch the game, and decided to try it too — I wanted to be interested in something that was close to her. And the first hours are really impressive: detail, atmosphere, music, as if written by John Williams himself (Harry Potter composer) But after 10-15 hours, this veil of delight falls. The game turns not into "Hogwarts Legacy", but into a fuss around Hogwarts, and in its worst manifestation - grinding camps and activities in the style of Ubisoft. The puzzles are too simple: the same doors with numbers are easier to solve by guesswork than to delve into the mechanics. The main character turned out to be faceless. He is immediately "gifted", so there is no sense of any development path. In addition, the use of dark magic does not affect the plot in any way, although at least several ending options were suggested - up to getting into Azkaban. Hogwarts Legacy remains a beautiful an...
Okay, at first I wasn’t sure if I should even bother writing a review, but here I am anyway. I’m writing this after finishing the main story (the main quests), though I haven’t all the side quests yet there are a lot of them. At first I was worried the game might be boring because of what my friends told me. But in the end, I couldn’t resist and bought it. And yeah, I’d say it was worth the price from the moment I stepped into the castle. Maybe that’s partly because I’m a Harry Potter fan too. Anyway, back to the review the game is so much fun for me, though the story feels a bit long… kinda made me sleepy at times. Still, I was impressed by almost everything the storyline, the quests, all the in-game content, riding magical creatures, flying on a broom… it all just felt amazing. If I had to nitpick, I’d say the graphics aren’t as great as I expected. But overall? Totally worth buying it’s genuinely fun.
