Streets of Rage 4 takes me back to the days of Sega Genesis otherwise known as Mega Drive. The graphics have been ramped up with a thumping dance soundtrack. This game is well worth picking up especially if it's on sale. You can buy this game on various platforms: PC (Steam), Xbox Series X|S, Google Play, Nintendo Switch and others.

Good old Bare Knuckle / Streets of Rage. Great gameplay and music. Must-have for fans of 2D beat em ups. Who needs 3D brawlers anyway?
How has the audio mixing not been fixed?
One of the strongest points of SoR has always been the OST yet somehow this game was not only released but they actively chose not to fix the terrible mastering on the soundtrack. I had to stop and check that something wasn't wrong with my speakers or audio and sure enough it's just the game being mastered to -20db or some nonsense. It seems like the devs said we don't want to do palette swaps but we also don't want to make a bunch of new enemies. Their "wonderful" solution was lets just give every enemy a weapon and change those weapons instead. The level transitions have some serious problems too, instead of just being a simple walk towards the edge of the screen and the game takes control of the character you get asked to find the magic pixel for screen transitions or to jump into areas that would have dealt damage to you only a second earlier. The dojo entrance is one of the biggest offenders as you need to be on just the right...

This is the best Beat-Em-Up ever produced. No contest. Nothing else is even close.

I can only recommend this, because it functions as intended, and some people seem to love the combat flow. The graphics are great, and the content is fluid, but the actual game-play makes this a non-winner for me. I love the minimal story, as I do not have time for cut-scenes, while playing this genre. Just show me who the bad guy is, and let me go. In this area, the pacing is fantastic. However.. - the characters move way too slow, and it doesn't match the pace that enemies move at, which adds an insane amount of unnecessary difficulty, even on easy mode, with certain mobs. This would be understandable if the game was inherently difficult, but if you actually do make contact with an enemy, you'll see it's not meant to be a hard game. - The hit boxes are unbearable. Completely random hit boxes, making it so you have absolutely no idea if you're hits are going to land, or not, while enemies are smacking you for insane damage, at any angle they feel like throwing from, at that p...
