Another fun adventure with Space Captain McCallery, but this time on a very purple planet! Unlike Episode 1: Crash Landing, Pilgrims in Purple Moss features far fewer hallucinogenics to try, instead opting for purple moss that rots upon resting, creating a somewhat different dynamic from the first game. Similarly different is that the area design is a tad more constrained, with this appearing to be a slightly tamer planet, and much swampier. Nevertheless, there are still clear indications of different paths one can take to uncover some secrets, such as tucked away hallucinogenic foods, so despite being tamer it remains interesting to explore. Although, it has to be said, the environments feel less varied than the first, at least without going after the more hidden paths, but I'd say the ruin in this game is much more interesting than the first game's, and hints at much more intrigue in the Renegade Sector than the first game's ruin did. This all said, the reason I write more o...

About This Game
Space Captain McCallery
In the lawless reaches of the galaxy known as the Renegade Sector...
Space Pirate Captain McCallery is once again roaming the Renegade Sector in search of treasure and adventure! Along with his new robotic companion, he travels to a mysterious sunken ruin which he believes to be one of the the hiding places of the treasure of the Legendary Space Pirate Laserbeard. In this Low-Poly 3D Action-Adventure game, Captain McCallery must explore a strange and mysterious alien world, battle alien lifeforms, search for food, and ultimately find Laserbeard's Treasure.
This episode of Space Captain McCallery is a self-contained adventure and can be played without having played the first episode. However, if you want to start at the beginning, the first episode can be found here:
Explore a Strange Alien World
Playing as Captain McCallery, you will travel through white cliffs and purple swamps, and delve into mysterious ancient ruins. Pay attention to your surroundings, as danger lurks behind every corner. This world is full of hidden paths and secrets to reward exploration.
Consume Alien Plants
The Captain needs to eat to survive! Be on the lookout for plants which you can consume to regain your energy. Food items can have a variety of other effects, ranging from restoring health and increasing your dash length, to hallucinations. Explore your environment to find rare and beneficial items!
Battle Alien Monsters
The game features fast-paced lock-on combat. Dash around your foes, dodging their attacks. Use your trusty laser gun to blast away at your enemies, or conserve your ammo by punching and throwing rocks. You'll be up against a variety of alien beings, including multiple boss fights.
Survival Mode
For those who want an extra challenge, there's Survival Mode. Survival Mode removes checkpoints from the game, and also removes enemy and item respawning. This mode requires caution and careful item-use in order to make it through.

ENG: Like the first episode retains all the mechanics, instead of a jump, we have a dash which gives it a different kind of platforming and you have to keep the captain fed because the energy is used for different actions such as reloading the weapon or dash among other things. The duration is short, but it is quite difficult, if you liked the first episode you should continue it and not be reading reviews and if you don't know it go straight to the first episode.
Space Captain McCallery - Episode 2 is a lot like the first episode. It's yet another Renegade Sector game and that means you know what to expect: a short but fun adventure through an alien world with some humor, a bit of scenario and fun but ultimately serviceable gameplay. While playing Episode 1, I felt like it was a pity that the game didn't do more with what it had. A single weapon, no movement options except for the dash and very basic platforming did the trick, sure, but it could be more. That's exactly what I expected Episode 2 to do, and to my surprise, it didn't really deliver. You've still got the interesting Energy system, which simulates hunger and is replenished by eating strange fruits you find in the overworld. It's also depleted to craft new ammunition for your gun. You still only get the one gun, which is a pity - even something like an unlockable charged shot would help spice up the combat a lot! Now for the new stuff! Purple Moss makes an appearance. It's ...
An entertaining but challenging romp.
While I would argue that this is a better entry into the series than the first game, it's still just more of the same. If you enjoyed the first, there's no reason you wouldn't enjoy the second.
Fun, short, adventure.
The captain is back on another planet! i really like how they didnt re-use enemies or exploration items, and introduced a new powerup fruit for increasing health permanently. This is a nice reward to players who want to go and explore the map, or to new players that need the extra HP. In the starting ship, you can read the captians journal to get a recap of what happened in episode one, i think this is a nice touch to those that care about lore, you can also find the robot you saved from the first game in the ship. I hope they slowly keep adding to the ship in each game with things you have done in previous games. Difficulty wise i found this game to be a bit harder than the first episode in the series, but a nice gradual spike, nothing to insane. I was a bit disappointing with the lack of a final boss and teasing the treasure room, to have it end in a cut scene outside the temple. Other than that i would recommend this game along with the first one in the series. Soundtrack was decent...
A fun second adventure with Captain McCallery, this time joined with the delightful companion Robort. Hazy greens and meaty reds are traded for floral purples and cool greys, environments are more expansive, and there's even platforming puzzles! Shooters don't usually have the best platforming, but navigating 3D environments with your dash was actually a lot of fun. I could see an interesting platformer built entirely around the idea. Broadly speaking though, if you enjoyed the first you'd certainly enjoy this. It's clear though that the series is introducing new ideas, and I'm interested to see where it'll go.
Another good adventure game in the Space Captain McCallery series! I still don't like the camera or energy system.
Fun lil Souls-ey game. My only major complaint is that the food items are a bit rare for my taste, the weapon selection is small, and the melee is basically just asking for damage, since enemies do bump damage in addition to standard attack patterns. Anyway, it's an enjoyable time
