The game has a very clever idea of turning rock-paper-scissors style combat into a deck builder, an idea that seems insanely interesting in theory. And it probably could be just as cool in practice, IF it was adapted correctly. IF. In this game, you have to try to strategize the classic game of rock-paper-scissors, and to an extent you can by viewing the opponents deck: if certain moves are starters or finishers, then you might be able to gauge more accurately what attacks are going to be of what type. The big problem here is that, even with this knowledge, you'll still find yourself guessing far more often than anything else. Every combat feels like a large guessing game, and the clues the game TRIES to get you to look at to strategize are of no to little help period. They try to implement a "hack" system to combat this, but since the enemies ALSO have this ability, it really doesn't change the outcome all too much. In fact, you'll find it screwing yourself over more times than it ...

Game seems okay, but the whole playing Hacks mechanic is a little low brow. Hacks are like a sidedeck of cards that allow you to manipulate the outcome of the play. You can either play one, or pass. Going 2nd in this instance actually gives you an advantage, as once you pass, your opponent is free to play whatever Hack they want, and you have no opportunity to respond to it. It's pretty murky. For this reason the game is pretty unfun 50% of time, since you have no idea what kind of BS hack the AI is going to pull and have no ability to respond to it. Until they change the mechanic to pass the phase, once BOTH players have passed, I would probably stay away from. Refunded until then.
One of my least favorite card games coming games like Hearthstone, Magic, Slay the Spire, Gwent, etc etc. Very low impact on deck building. Fun concept of having dueling players build decks to play specifically against one other person in a draft duel but the mechanics of the game make 90% of matches a rock paper scissors match of do you get to play your cards or does your opponent get to play theirs. No matter how cool of a deck you can build, either you win because you just did damage and the other player didn't get to do anything to make the match interesting or your that player who doesn't get to play. The only "close matches" I've played were mirror-like matches where both players just punched each other until the one with initiative gets the killing blow. I believe the game is still being developed while I'm writing this review so I'm sure they're still tweaking and I hope the experience gets better but unfortunately for me that would require completely abandoning several key mec...
Decided to check out this game after seeing it on Northernlion's channel as the art caught my eye and the combat looked fun and unique. I ended up refunding the game. The combat actually just ended up feeling really shallow and there are only three types of enemies to fight based on my two hours of gameplay. Not the worst thing I've ever played but after my first run I knew it wasn't going to be in my long term plans.
This review is for the campaign mode, I haven't played the versus mode. I'm trying really hard to enjoy this game. It has a lot of elements that I feel like are good ideas, however the heart of the game is ultimately rock-paper-scissors. I've managed to reach threat level 2 with each available character so far, but the higher up the difficulty ladder you go the more oppressive the game's designs become. Maybe I'm not big brain enough for the strategies intended by the developers, but I just end up feeling frustrated more often than like I'm having fun.
I don't usually play card games because they tend to drag on for what always feels like way too long. However, that's not the case with this one. It's fast paced, easy to get into without being too casual, and generally a pleasant experience. It also seems to work flawlessly with Proton, which is nice.
Seeing the other reviews on this game is really surprising. I'm not really sure how people came away from it thinking it's unwinnable or unfair or heavy RNG? This is primarily a PvP game at the moment and you really ought to be buying it for that, but the PvE (even in its pre-AI patch form) has always been consistent and winnable if you just look at what your opponent is doing and stop clicking whatever you want and being upset it doesn't work. If the game looks interesting to you definitely take a risk here, most of the bad reviews really don't know what they're talking about!
Too unbalanced at the time of this review, enemies have mods, abilities, and cards perfectly synergized which makes the game feel way too unfair (not in the good Dark Souls way). And wait until you get to the ascension level 2+, enemies are complete bs op.
It was hard to get into at first, with a somewhat confusing UI, but once I understood it, it really clicked. The nuances and strategies are fun to play around with, and it is really satisfying to completely destroy an opponent. Looking forward to more content.
This... this is a stylish game. It has interesting visuals with fun animations for each move. The cards are presented well with a clean style that tells you what each card is/does very quickly. The music fits the theme and the sound effects add nicely to the atmosphere. But none of this overcomes the complete lack of gameplay. Each round you draw a hand of 5 cards and select 3 of them to go into slots 1, 2, or 3, your opponent does the same. Each card is one of three types, Ranged, Melee, or Skill and each one of those beats one of the others, ala Rock Paper Scissors. Ranged beats Melee, Melee beats Skill, and Skill beats Ranged. Only the cards that win this battle are actually played, so if you put your "gain shields" Skill card in slot 1 and your opponent put their "do damage" Melee card in their slot 1 your card will do nothing. Bye bye shields you were relying on, you don't get to come out to play. The problem with this is that neither side knows what the other has put out in adva...
