A long time ago, when consoles were still relevant, I bought a PS3 to play all the PS3 and console exclusives. I think I got Flower for free after that Sony hacking debacle in 2011, and really liked it, you could see that something special was coming from these guys. And it did, Journey was great. This is a very pretty and relaxing game. Best grass I have ever seen :D Mechanics are basic, but that's not really the point of the game. A note for Deck users, you'll find some issues like no sound or game crashing. Just switch to Proton 8.0-5 and you're good to go.

So i bought this game only because of the bundle with Journey, and because i like to do 100% achievements and it took me 4h. 4h of boredom, 4h of the only mechanics (to move) being canceled every 30s by cinematics that show nothing, and even this mechanics (to move i repeat) is not even a slice pleasant. Apart from that, the game is slightly poetic and cute.

Possibly the most beautiful video game ever made, up there with Journey and Ico and the original Oblivion for sheer beauty. Get a daulshock (3,4, or 5) and play with sixaxis gyro controls, otherwise you're missing half of the game.

Other reviews talk about clunky controls, and yeah… on PC it’s kinda tricky to manage the petals’ direction. Took the tip from someone saying it’s made for PlayStation, and using a controller instantly felt easier—not magically, but way smoother. You still gotta be precise with your movements, but the petals actually go where you want and you can glide them just right at the end. I also love the subtle, symbolic story unfolding in the menu: as you unlock new flowers, the apartment they’re kept in gradually transforms—brighter, cleaner, more alive. These visual cues make it feel like your journey with the flowers is having a real, tangible impact, adding a quiet layer of meaning that’s easy to miss but deeply satisfying once you notice it. 🌼❤️‍🩹✨

Flower, as a concept and considering when and how it was released, is a fantastic game. However, it's a bit painful to play. You'll find very similar issues with every other game by ThatGameCompany (Journey and Sky : Children of the Light*). First of all, when you boil all three games down, they are the exact same game with the same message. Secondly, the biggest crime all three commit is that the devs absolutely want to show you something and by hook or by crook they are going to make absolutely sure you look at it. That means repeatedly yanking camera control away from the player (always at the worst possible time, I swear). Last of the big issues is control of the character (here being flower petals) is jank as hell and involves constant wrestling with frequently changing camera angles. Now all that said, all three games are absolutely gorgeous, with incredible landscapes, memorable music, and even if the message is essentially the same, it is a strong message** (that more peopl...
