This game is good. If you know what to expect, then you can have lots of fun with it. Don't get fooled by the mixed reviews. I played only the campaign, no skirmish or MP and it was worth it. The story is decent and no mission plays like the other. You control a few squads and heroes with different abilities and a rock - paper - scissor system. In most missions there are only 2-6 units to control, so don't expect huge medieval fights like in Age of Empires. There is basically no base building. On a few mission you are allowed to build towers and palisades but this is it. If your squads are dying, you can retreat to a captured tent and replenish them. During the campaign your heroes gather items and XP and you can to an extent complement them to fit your playstyle. I played on hard difficulty (there is NewGame+ with nightmare difficulty). THE STORY
Follow the story of Theoderich von Akenburg, a former crusader knight who, after becoming disillusioned with the cruelty of war, is called back into action by events set into motion 15 years ago when he and his former brother-in-arms, Ulrich von Grevel, stumble upon a fractured piece of an ancient artifact - the Rod of Aaron. A young monk named Malcom appears at Theoderich’s doorstep, bringing him news that the Rod contains power never meant for mortals, and Ulrich has become obsessed with finding the remaining pieces and unifying the rod, an event that could bring untold evil and suffering to the world.Theoderich takes on the quest of locating the remaining relics to keep them from Ulrich and begins a journey that will lead him across Europe and the Middle East. This is a defect game. Even 1st campaign never starts and just freezing to death of loading the program. This is a shame on THQ Nordic staffs. Only a title movie can start perfectly, then freeze to death. I see several same comments on the message board and I am not the one to encounter this case.
