AI: The Somnium Files felt like a full on fever dream from start to finish. Nothing made sense… yet somehow everything made sense. The plot twists? Oh, they’re everywhere. Some you’ll see coming, but most will smack you in the face out of nowhere. There’s not a ton of gameplay or big choices here, but honestly? Who cares. The story and voice acting are top-notch, and in a visual novel, that’s what really matters. Overall, I’d give it an 8/10, but that ending? Easily a 9/10. I was happy, sad, and emotionally wrecked all at once. This game got me good. Weird, heartfelt, unforgettable , go play it

STORY
One rainy night in November, a woman's body is found at an abandoned theme park, mounted on a merry-go-round horse. She had been stabbed repeatedly, and her left eye was gouged out.
Kaname Date of the Metropolitan Police Department arrives on the scene. He recognizes the woman. Suddenly, he hears a noise from inside the merry-go-round.
He breaks into the merry-go-round's central column to find a young girl. And in her hands, she grips a bloody ice pick...

tl;dr 8/10 japanese VA/detective game hybrid ------- This is a weird one. It's like 80% visual novel with small spots where you choose to move around the map and interact with objects somewhat similarly to a point and click game. There's a few 'somnium' spots where you do move around in a 3d space to put together clues, and that basically makes up the gameplay. There are something like 5 or 6 routes to take all ending in their own story end, but after you complete one route you can move to anywhere else in the story to attempt to finish the others. The 'true' route is only endable by completing all other routes first. I enjoyed the story a lot. Some parts were really engaging, and I liked trying to piece it together in my mind (the routes i ended up taking first did NOT make that easy). Others seemed to have too, shown by the fact that 40.2% of people have gone on to 100% the game's story, including the 'real' route. I'd say 40.2% reaching maximum completion is actually pretty high fo...
It's a really fun game. I was recommended this game by a friend of mine. I loved the developers previous series (Zero Escape) and this has a similar air to it. I love the different branching paths. I will note that one side of the flow chart is a little on the slower side pacing wise, but it is still enjoyable. Would recommend this to anyone who is into scifi, psychological thrillers (but a lighter edition), mysteries, and high fantasy (sorta)
This game is an absolute triumph! From start to finish, I was completely captivated by the engaging storyline and the brilliantly developed characters. I found myself genuinely invested in their fates, constantly second-guessing their motives and intentions. The subtle hints and half-truths that each character reveals only deepened the mystery, making the experience even more compelling. The intricate plot kept me guessing at every turn, and the innovative "Somnium" segments offered a refreshing and unique break from the dialogue-heavy narrative, setting this game apart from typical visual novels. It's a truly ingenious mechanic that adds another layer of depth to the investigation. The ending was incredibly satisfying, leaving me with a profound sense of accomplishment and a genuine connection to the story. It's the kind of game that stays with you long after you finish playing. I'm already eagerly anticipating the sequel! The only downside is the lack of Russian localization...
Good game. Interesting story where you don't know where it is going until you complete several endings to uncover it all and it finally starts to make sense.
Very solid game. Some of the puzzles are a little frustrating, especially towards the very end, but overall a great experience. Also I can't get over how Pewter is the only character in the entire universe that dresses like a supervillain for no readily apparent reason.
Played this game on switch when it first release. i saw this on sale and decided to buy it again since i already forgot most of the plot. Still enjoying it and thought how much i love this game. i cannot wait to play the second and third game
really like the story, was honestly a little bored in-between things but whatever. characters just go creepy but like not suprised. pretty good game i like idk
