About This Game

Dark Envoy brings classic RPG mechanics with a skill-based combat system built on classes and specializations, and blends it with diverse tactical options of approaching your battles. You control a party of relic hunters in a tale of destiny set in a conflict-torn world.

What unfolds when you combine the forces of Technology and Magic? A conflict which can have only one winner.

Enjoy the complete freedom of combat without the risk of it becoming monotonous or repetitive, as it continually offers fresh and exciting challenges. There are five different difficulty options, with the highest setting demanding you to effectively break the system.

Delve into a world of diversity as you explore our extensive roster featuring four core classes and a remarkable twelve distinct specializations, each offering a playstyle so unique that there's simply no comparing them to one another.

An extraordinary RPG system with such an expansive design that it nearly resembles a vast sandbox, it offers players boundless opportunities and creative freedom to explore and enjoy.

We don't simply tell; we illustrate choices that possess genuine significance, choices that bear substantial weight, shaping both the story and its conclusion.

They didn’t want to be pulled into all this, but others made this choice for them. Gather your unique party of companions. Your goal may not necessarily be to save the world but each other.

I'm disgusted by how buggy and broken this game is. Its so much worse then Tower of Time. Its like the developer has learned nothing from our feedback and even made a worse game * Pathing is horrible, worse than games from 25 years ago. The characters headbutt into each other if their paths cross at any point. Characters block each other when trying to enter a gateway together. * During cutscenes, every single word is repeated like if the characters were stuttering, killing what little immersion the game had. * The main character’s parents' faces hardly look human. The father looks like his eyes are about to pop out and the mother looks like a goth emo bitch. * Performance is mediocre for the quality of the graphics. * While *Tower of Time* was tedious in the late stages, this game is tedious from the very start. It's like the developer has read the feedback on Tower of time and decided to spite the players.
Final Verdict: ❌ (3/5) Not Recommended

Dark Envoy could have been a solid tactical RPG with an interesting world where magic coexists with technology. Unfortunately, numerous shortcomings completely overshadow this potential. After a full playthrough on the maximum difficulty, the conclusion is clear:
the game has no balance. I gave up on all characters except Malakai (Warrior/Assassin + Berserker, with the Collector's Amulet) because he alone, with insane movement speed, flew around the map with 100% life leech, 700% attack speed, 100% crit and an average damage of 600-900 per attack.

Main Issues:
• Optimization: After an hour or two of play, the FPS drops from 144 to 30, and only a game restart helps. • Gameplay: Lifeless combat and a complete lack of balance. • Story and Animation: The story is weak, and the facial animation in dialogues is either horrifying or laughable. ...

Following their masterpiece Tower of Time, Event Horizon has once again delivered with Dark Envoy, a fantastic tactical RPG that brilliantly expands on their signature combat system within an exciting new "Guns N' Sorcery" setting. It's a must-play for fans of the genre and a testament to the developer's skill in crafting deeply rewarding gameplay experiences.

Having played their earlier title, I was excited for Dark Envoy but found it a bit rough around the edges compared to the polished experience of Tower of Time, despite its ambitious scope. But it's still a thumbs up.

i just played 3 hours but i am very confident to give it a thumbs up! this is beautiful game by any means. sometimes a bit laggy under proton, but nothing major! probably just my old machine. as for the gameplay - it is easy and relaxing rpg with some really cool mechanics. special comment is for the great voice acting of main characters (probably others are nice too, but i just played 3 hours so far). Story is there and I kind of understand where it is going to lead. As for the story choices - choices are there! As always, it is a bit depressing that such nice games frequently are buried under quadruple slops, and the only time I can find these games is during some fests or discounts. I have ignored so much slop but steam still refuses to give me games like this on regular basis! edit 8h into the game: i do confirm - it delivers what i have expected after 3h play. this game is HIGHLY recommended to play!

What a great surprise! The game has the proper depth, skill trees, and a wide range of character classes. The combat is intuitive w/ out being too complex. The combat has NO pause, just a bullet time if you get that reference, and it is perfect. Another nice addition is that at the end of each scenario, there is a data breakdown of each character, their damage, healing, etc. I have always liked games that have this, so you can tweak your characters. I highly recommend this game.

I had this on my wishlist for a long time and the negative reviews kept me from getting it. I decided to give it a shot and I'm glad I did. I'm really enjoying it. I like the combat and the story. The controller support is adequate but I can't open the map so I created a custom layout for my steam deck. Being able to change your skills without punishment is great.

Interesting real-time system - it feels like a MOBA almost, I assume it was atleast partially inspired by LoL or Dota. The story seems pretty good so far, the majority of the cinematics have been gameplay cinematics, the voice acting is good (above average at the very least), good depth of customization for an indie. Definitely a hidden gem, in my opinion.
