Our Story

We are a tiny, dedicated indie team, motivated by the lack of sim football options and determined to deliver a customizable football simulation with a deep franchise mode and dynamic gameplay. Our budget for the 2018 game was about $15,000, and the majority of that came from sales from Axis Football 2017. Our small team works on this game during nights (and often early mornings) and weekends, relying on our day jobs to sustain our families and our passion for sim football gaming and the support of the community to continue to improve the Axis Football franchise.

The Future of Axis Football

Axis Football has come a long way in three years, but it's certainly not where we want it to be in terms of graphics and depth of features. We made huge strides from last year and have even bigger plans for what we can accomplish next year. Your purchase and support of this game helps to make those plans a reality. We heavily reinvest back into the game, and we hope that is evident with the progress we've made. We plan to release annual versions of the game with improvements to graphics, animations, features, and more! Let us know what you'd like to see in the game, and share Axis Football with your friends!

I was lucky enough to be able to play the beta for this game and now that the game is out, I bought the game and am more than happy with it. Let me start by saying that the game is developed by a small indie team, but man do they listen to the community! ‘Can you add this or change that?’ Discuss, update, test, done. That’s the attitude that makes a game successful. They had a vision when making the game, but they know gamers have options and the future is looking good for sim football. So here are my thoughts on the game. The Bad • Graphics – being upfront, this isn’t Madden. But I am ok with that. I don’t need to see the sweat on the player’s brow. I just want to be able to customize uniforms, players, and be able to see those changes (I’ll get to that in a few). • Gameplay Mechanics – decent but can definitely be improved. Animations can seem clunky at times. The devs know it and have plans to upgrade these. They simply decided to work on other items first (lik...

Let me make this clear, this game has a lot of potential. However, the way it currently plays, I can't recommend it to anyone else because of the absolutely nonsensical regression system. - My recievers dropped from A+ catch rating to C, in the middle of the season, despite being on the 2nd best passing offense in the league. - My defensive backs literally drop in rating right before my eyes despite my team allowing the least passing yards in the league. And if that wasn't enough, you also have to deal with running backs regularly breaking 3+ tackles from defenders with A+ tackle rating, even on the "Defend Run" defense stance. These combine to make a frustrating experience that I can't currently recommend to anyone else.

Axis football is a football game made by a handful of people who work on the game parttime these guys have other jobs to support their families. Now with that said look at what they have done in a few years. The level of quality and content from 15 to 18 is mind blowing. Here is the deal every year they improve the game using the sales from the previous games. They listen to the community and implement features that we ask for! Never has a developer been so involved with their community. Yes the game is not where it needs to be but it will get there no doubt. So, what do you get in Axis that you can't get with other football games? Fully customizable teams. You can make anything in Axis football with basic knowledge of photoshop. The dev wanted you to be able to create infinite teams, uniforms, and in the future even play books, Aimed passing is a novel concept ala NFL fever but with more control. You aim the cursor where you want and based on your movement the ball will go there. Of...

If you want a viable football alternative, this is it. Axis is pioneering something and you can see it. It is amazing to see what a skeleton-crew has accomplished over 5 years or so. Amazing. All they need is more funds and this gorgeous foundation will explode. Support Axis, buy this simulation and help this team. You can SEE where it is going and I love it. It has a deep franchise, robust customization (even more if on PC) and you can see the improvement year to year. Axis is doing it right by not over-promising and they listen to the community. They have a great thing going here...I highly recommend this sim.

So I bought this game yesterday so I cant't say I have put in months into this game. But so far I am impressed considering it costs 60 dollars for a madden game that is trying to bleed you dry with micro transactions. For 20 bucks you can't beat it. Plus the developers are VERY QUICK to respond. I had an issue where with the steam controller when you pressed start it wouldn't save changes to the roster so I could add myself to a team. Though that would work to pause the game in gameplay. Reached out to them via email yesterday, they responded that night and the patch is already fixed and installed on my computer. 24 F*%$#$& hours! Goddamn thats quick. All I can say is F*&^ EA support these guys.

I had been debating either buying this or shelling out the money for Madden's return to PC. On one hand you've a gorgeous game playing as and against NFL teams featuring current players, and on the other a game that's not nearly as polished but made out of passion by a dev team a fraction of the size. I also just couldn't justify supporting a company such as EA and realized that my $20 to Axis will go much, much further than a minimum of $60 going to EA. Origin is also pretty much garbage. I've only played one exhibition game so far and was fairly impressed with what I purchased. Yes the game has bugs and yes some of the mechanics like catching and tackling can be janky, but you have to remember that this is made by an indie developer. I absolutely hate that Madden has such a strangle hold on American football video games and applaud Axis for creating an alternative product. I decided to pick this game up because they are actually trying to take on Madden and EA. Be aware that this is ...

This game has a lot of potential but there are several things that need fixed. On kick offs my opponent almost always makes it to the 35 yard line. Cannot run inside EVER! Outside runs are difficult but more realistic. Quarterback runs don't count toward rush yards for some reason. The AI does some pretty stupid things such as calling time outs when I'm driving the ball which helps me more than it helps thier team. The AI also will run the ball in an obvious hail marry situation. I HATE Madden so please continue the fine work on this game. Please focus more on actual game play rather than all the bells and whistles regarding off the field content. Game play ON the field is most important. All of my comments are meant to be constructive as I enjoy this game. I understand this small team can't compete head to head with Madden, however, even a fair football game beats Madden out due to Madden having so many haters...me being one of them for sure! One last suggestion...My f...

It is a football game. Once you kind of figure out where the exploits are, you can take advantage of them really quick. If my QB can complete almost 100% of the passes, throw for over 400 yards, throw for 2 TDS and run for 3 TDS by pulling down the ball and running with it WITHOUT the defense even picking up on the change, it is a flawed game. Still, the depth of roster editing and team editing will make it worth the money I spent, if I ever feel dedicated enough to do so in the first place. It is an indie game, so no shame here, but not a great football game. Perhaps a good sim, but not a good football game.

The small team that works on this game (Axis Games) is great. This game is the fourth in the Franchise and they only get better every year. Sure, this game is certainly not perfect, but neither is Madden, for example; or really any game. But these Devs listen to their community, and improve their game with feedback from the community. At the end of the day, that's what you want in a team of game developers.(I'm looking at you EA) Anyways, I'd highly recommend this game to anyone, because every bit of support matters, and will lead to future improvement of this game. This game is going places...

The graphics don't compete with Madden, but the franchise mode is way better. This is a great alternative, and I'd rather give my money to this small team than to money hungry EA Sports. Madden is the same game every year. Axis Games has made so much improvement over the years from listening to the community, and I am excited to see what is next. Great progress and a really fun game to play!
