About This Game

Harold Halibut is a handmade narrative game about friendship and life on a city-sized spaceship submerged in an alien ocean.

It’s been 250 years since your home - an ark-like spaceship - fled an Earth on the verge of cold war to find a habitable planet to preserve the human race.

You are Harold, a young lab assistant for the ship’s lead scientist, Jeanne Mareaux. While most of the ship’s inhabitants have reconciled themselves to a life lived aboard the sunken ship, Mareaux still works tirelessly to find a way for the ship to leave the planet and find a new, dryer home.

But the weird, wonderful and diverse people of the FEDORA I keep Harold busy too… Until one fateful encounter plunges Harold into a world no one could have imagined - and one that may hold the key to Mareaux’s re-launch plans.

Join Harold as he explores a vibrant retro-future world in his quest to find the true meaning of ‘home’.

Features:

  • Unique Stop-Motion Aesthetics: Every element in Harold Halibut is a tactile and meticulously hand-crafted using traditional sculpting and model-making techniques.
  • Full Voice Acting: All of the Fedoras' wonderful inhabitants come to life with full English voiceover, elevating the game's narrative to cinematic proportions.

I feel a bit bad saying I Don't recommend this "game", but its not my fault Steam has crummy Yes/No rating system. Game is impressive artistically, but like EVERYONE is saying...its VERY slow and when you "do" anything in the game there is no puzzle or thought to it at all. You feel as though you're just prodding the slow mellow plot along. ONLY RECOMMEND IF you're really into Claymation or you like games that are like sitting through a slow movie or ON SALE

It could not really hook me. This is clearly a game made by artists. It looks beautiful. The artstyle is very unique. But the dialogue.. the way you interact with the world fell flat.

This game should be in a museum. It just oozes art and originality. It is a low-action walk-simulator but the sci-fi story will surprise you at points. Add to that a cast of characters that really feel alive and this game is a great trip. Get in and go with the flow.

The humour is bad, it’s a slog to get through. You walk around doing fetch quests while either getting scolded, or waiting for the ‘punchline’ or getting exposition read at you. I dont know if i can stick to it long enough to get to the good parts, if there are any. However, some of the characters are fun, and the game is unique and detailed. It just needed a harsh edit, like really harsh, cut most of it.

They shove the woke agenda right in your face exactly after the second hour of gameplay so you can’t refund this crap, the game is woke trash without gameplay and with a plot written by сalifornian porridge

Great story focused game! This game doesn't have a lot of "gameplay" but if you like story or cool characters in video games, you'll love this gem!

I've just finished the game. I am torn on thumbs up vs down. Truly such a mixed bag. The pacing is glacial and it can be very boring, but given that this is so obviously a labor of love I can't help but feel this is intentional. The developers clearly wanted to use this slowness as part of the story they were telling, especially given the themes of time, mundanity, and being trapped. I think that story itself was pretty lackluster, but I kind of admire the willingness to pull something like that off But obviously it's difficult to recommend a game that seems to consider fun as such a low priority Beyond that though I also found the interactions between characters jarring in a way that hardly seems intentional. The way people talk feels like you're watching a kids show directed by a philosophy undergrad, and you've just taken a large dose of melatonin. It's a game that feels like it's playing at 'depth' without much actually being under the surface (hur hur). Others seem to have fou...

What a good game. I'm drawn to any game that has such a stylised identity, and Harold Halibut is no exception. The biggest draw for me was the art style, it's very charming and the whole game has a whimsical tone that carries through to even the in game menus. It often had me smiling and enjoying seeing the many aspects of the environments. I grew up on point and click adventure games and this game evokes those memories greatly but which much less trial and error. The game is fairly linear but does have some side stories which are not to be missed! The story itself was not what i expected. It was endearing and thoughtful. It has a slow pace and often takes it's time to just sit and think which i enjoyed. It kept my attention the whole way through. The characters are what keeps you wanting to explore and play the game, they are all delightfully eccentric. I enjoyed getting to meet and talk with them all. The voice actors where chosen well. While I have a lot of praise for the game ...
