This is a superior creepy mansion game. I've played a few of these, and this is my favourite so far. It didn't get off to the best start with the weirdly grey visuals, but that was a quick fix in the graphics menu - brightness 100% gamma 25%. The lack of IK is only a problem at first - once you realize it's not estimating the orientation of your arms you just don't bend your wrists much. I completed it in one session of about 2 hours and 10 minutes. I was not bored, as the mansion is suitably creepy, and I felt compelled to keep going and find a way out before I ran out of torch batteries - this was a really good mechanic IMO. I was only stuck for a few minutes, and the maps did help me towards the end of the game - but almost all the way through I was just hunting through the rooms collecting the things I needed to progress the story, not having to concentrate too hard or solve puzzles. It's not an action game, as clearly stated on the store page, so don't expect to shoot zombies, but...

About This Game

DreamBack VR is a virtual reality, first-person psychological horror game where you explore the eerie Rickfford Mansion, trying to unravel its mysteries and survive the experience with your sanity intact.
HORROR LURKS WITHIN YOUR MIND
One fateful cold night, you were called by your company to repair a downed electrical power line in the Rickfford Mansion, an old Victorian estate in Mort Forest. That night scarred your life forever. Even though your memories of it are vague and hazy, you are still in shock months later, unable to sleep, and your relationship with your family is strained by the shock. You cannot recall what happened exactly on that night… What events terrified you so much that your mind just snapped and drew a curtain of oblivion over them? You are convinced that you have to face your memories and fears to overcome them. You then heard of a psychiatrist who claims to bring back memories through hypnosis, so you booked a consultation with him. Now, you are going to relive everything that happened in the house that night…
Will you survive your own memories?
TERROR IN YOUR OWN SKIN
Designed from the very beginning for Virtual Reality systems, DreamBack VR immerses you in a fully interactive and detailed environment. With its immersive movement and hand controls, you will have to navigate through the eerie Rickfford Mansion to solve its puzzles and enigmas through observation and intuition. DreamBack VR focuses its spine-chilling experience in atmospheric and psychological terror, without combat or action-oriented sections.
SEE. LISTEN. TREMBLE
Sometimes you have to see and listen for yourself to believe in the extraordinary… but you may wish you hadn’t. DreamBack VR is optimized to offer great visual quality without sacrificing any performance, with stable frame rates and adaptative graphic options. Its audio and sound have been designed to offer an incredibly immersive experience, with dynamic spatial and binaural audio, which, together with high-quality ambience sounds and effects, create a truly harrowing unique experience.

Short but not sweet, a couple of jump scares and a lot of confusion. Near the end, got a bug where I would have to pause or use an item to get my hand back. Game was just a walking item retrieving simulator that was pretty low quality.
Nice game but quite short It's a narrative game with some terror and puzzles Edit: After trying Wraith: The Oblivion afterlife, it has made me realize how well done Dreamback was, dreamback was all about emotions and inmersion, Wraith tries something similar, is technically well done, but it's just boring.
Creepy with good atmosphere and few jumpscares. Recommended for any VR fan who likes story based immersive experiences.
I like the huge spooky manor, the graphics, the light effects, the volumetric effects, the good animations of the ghosts, the soundtrack, the very good 3D audio. In terms of visuals and sound it's very good, especially with next-gen Reverb G2 display. Nevertheless custom controls are very very ugly. You have to activate movement by pressing the left button; then you can walk by tilting your wrist in the forth or back direction! The same for turning with the right controller: press the right button and tilt the wrist left and right! Very uncomfortable! I managed to modify the bindings in order to use the left stick to walk and the right stick to turn while keeping the grip buttons pressed. I shared my bindings with the community. However you can save just one time; no way to overwrite or change save slot. So I had to complete the game in only one session! No help from developers. Obviously I wasn't expecting instant solution and personal assistance. The save system issue was reported o...
Like this. Really creepy haunted house game. Problems: janky grabbing with index. Voice acting. Inventory system.
Great visuals, sounds and overally attention to details.
If you are looking for a good game to get you started in VR Horror I highly recommend this one. It is obvious the love and care that went into making it. The game ran smooth as butter on my Oculus Rift S and I encountered no glitches. The only things that gave me issues were my own stupidity and thick-headedness. I absolutely loved it and look forward to whatever else this company puts out. Keep it up guys and don't listen to the negativity (unless they have legitimate issues).
