About the Game

Them and Us is a classic, survival horror game with a focus on atmosphere and player immersion.

Discover the truth of Alicia’s past as she descends further into her strange, unending nightmare.

The Story:

The year is 1978. A lone bus, a terrible crash, out upon the old and winding dirt roads which skirt a vast American wilderness. A survivor. A young woman, her mind scarred by a life of tragedy, her name is Alicia. She is alone. She is injured. Around her, quietly, slowly, a surreal and deadly nightmare unfolds.

Fighting for her life, Alicia finds herself in the midst of events she does not understand- a "change" taking grip on the world around her. Its nature, its cause? unknown.

As night descends, she pushes further into the unknown - Will she survive? Will you?

Key Features:

General

- Fixed camera with tank and alternate control schemes.

- Third-person view with over-the-shoulder aim

- Selected first-person POV for flashbacks, cutscenes, memories, etc.

- Extra game content.

Fixed Camera: This mode is designed for people that want a true classic survival horror experience. For those who like things hard and challenging.

Over The Shoulder: Although we keep some classic elements in this mode, OTS is designed for people who want a more modern gaming experience, with a slightly easier (but still challenging in its own way) experience.

Notice:

The game pays homage to some of the classic survival horror games we love, expect to see some "rooms" or "Easter eggs" that may remind you of these games.

Regardless of how you play, this game will not hold your hand. You will have to think for yourself about what needs to be done and how to progress the story.

Use your own wits and intuition to make it out alive.

Graphics

- Post-process effects (bloom filters, god rays, etc.) added for increased immersion.

- Crisp graphics with a 60 FPS default. Unlock FPS is available.

- Optional reversion to first-gen console graphics. The retro mode also triggers fixed camera play for a greater challenge.

- UltraWide (32:9) Support

Gameplay

- Realistic damage and dismemberment systems with accompanying gore.

- In-world puzzles featuring ciphers and keys.

- Resource management for true survival horror.

Extra Content:

Finish the game and unlock new costumes or weapons.

There are different endings. Decide Alicia's fate yourself.

Technical Problems & Fix:

Low FPS? Please make sure that:

1. Your video card receives enough power and not sleeps to save power.

2. The game is running on the main monitor connected on your video card.

Why this happens:

This game required very little performance to run well, an NVidia GTX 1080 is enough. If the hardware is to new it may not use any of its power or even pick the real video card, saying like "this application don't need any power to run well". This happens more on laptops due to battery save. In this case we need to manually tell our PC that this game needs power like all other games or apps.

I almost would recommend this for classic RE fans, as this is one of the closest things to a classic RE that you'll find. HOWEVER.... I, being a fan of classic RE and having beaten all of them on high difficulty where a difficulty option was available, have started this on Hard with Fixed Camera on. Don't do that. The imbalance makes this not difficult, but unfair and frustrating. The amount of zombies is absolutely ridiculous, you often find them in relatively narrow hallways. You have to bait them into an attack to run past. Now this mechanic isn't exactly news to any classic RE fan. But you have to do it in almost every room here. Exploration takes a bit of a backseat, as you can simply not explore anything without zombies running after you. Speaking about running: They randomly run for a random duration. Sometimes when they're close to you. Sometimes when you shoot at them. Usually they stop after a short sprint. Heavy emphasis on "usually".... Sometimes they keep running afte...

Ultimately this was a little TOO oldschool for me, but that's why I recommend it for anyone seeking that original Resident Evil experience. Large focus on avoiding enemies, resources are tight, and there's a LOT of doors and items to keep track of. Most impressively though, are all the features it pulls off that AAA developers haven't been able to since 2010 such as: Sharp and accurately cast shadows, functioning mirrors to look a round with, a terrifying atmosphere built from great framing and sound design, and a beautiful heroine with unlockable risque outfits. Someone explain how an indie studio's first game can nail all this yet AAA developers with 100x the budget can't?

it starts off well, despite the annoying limited inventory (quest items really should take no space) which expands a little bit over time but always means a tiny item and a shotgun take up the same space unlike a proper inventory system. but after the mansion / sewers, it turns from survival horror into a run and gun game. the increase in the number of enemies after this point is so extreme. you will be constantly ammo scarce, the knife is no longer useful because most enemies have a short ranged attack or hit you for too much damage. you are also locked in place for a bit after firing so mini bosses you need to keep running away until they pause, then you can get ONE shot in and have to run again because two shots means the locked in place will get you injured. it started out fun, it turned into a chore, and now i cannot lower the difficulty to easy to get through the chore so honestly i am not sure i will continue. So i got 8 hours of it on sale, which i guess is value for m...

It is fun game. Beginning is very good. In the middle of the game story turns to some grey area - instead of horror it becomes mystic. But after few hours of gameplay you can get used to this turn of events. All in all it is good game - no bugs, interesting bosses, audio is OK. Story - it could have improvements, but it is as it is. So, this worth playing.

Nice throw back game. Early RE vibes. Bit janky in places but I’ve really enjoyed it, hope there’s a sequel

Oh yeah, amazing, epic, a dream of a game: 10/10 for me. Resident Evil, thanks for your excellent service, a new favorite is here. -- Choose First Person -click on FPS, after choosing difficulty-, used this on Easy -not that easy after a while, at all- ! -- Or over the shoulder -- Or fixed Camera How didn't I know about it ? Superb exploring, ambience, and the action ! I'm little good for some puzzles parts here and there, not my thing, but gladly did them with the Steam detailed walkthrough in Community, for the privilege of living throughout the wonder and surprises. In inventory window, the little window -above and right corner- you can select the flashlight, use your chosen key to turn on or off, never depletes! you can select other things, stays on. Or choose holy water when you get it to see how much you have, etc. --- Disclosure and C.E. Spoilers: 70 y.o. gamer, use my own C.E. tables so my playing isn't typical. Here for other old gamers with high B.P. or like minded gam...

Recommend this game to hardcore survival horror fans. There are countless references made to retro survival horror classics that were fun to see throughout the game so veteran fans will see many of their favorite titles referenced multiple times. The gameplay is decent but nothing groundbreaking, the puzzles are pretty good, and the environment is nicely detailed and designed. I will say is it very easy to get lost and be unsure of what to do next to don't hesitate to use a guide if needed to just keep the game moving. Also don't expect much of a story, as there are few cut scenes and the story is told through notes and documents, so that was slightly disappointing for me. Performance is by far the worst aspect of this game, very poorly optimized so be prepared to mess with the settings to reduce frame rate issues. Overall 7/10 for me

A classic survival horror game that blends elements of Resident Evil and Silent Hill. There's a lot of spooky atmosphere and scenery to chew. Some enemy animations make them a little jank or too quick to respond in some ways, but the game controls pretty smoothly. System-wise, it doesn't like being on anything but your main screen if you full-screen, so windowed mode is the only alternative I've found to play on the secondary screen. Pretty great game for any survival horror fan.
