Played the first bit with my brother, and it wasn't really our cup of tea. The game feels kinda empty - the levels having a repeating theme with lawl-death types of puzzles. I was kind of hoping for some more of the humor that the game shows in the trailers to be apparent, but each one is a series of very empty-feeling challenges. The really strange part is that, while the game is based on co-operative play, it feels remarkably like a single player game, where one brother has to either stand around and do nothing or be dead and do nothing. The rez system encourages you to take turns, but it really doesn't address the main issue. There's other 2-player games that are great for having a fun laugh with another person. This is especially true if you're looking for games where you're looking to play together at the same time.

About This Game
Human Sacrifices, Very Poor Magic and More!
Join apprentice wizard brothers Arcan and Zeph as they fight the forces of Dark Arcanum armed with little more than the Resurrection Scroll, a tool they can use to bring each other back to life. While traversing through platforming challenges and solving puzzles, you will encounter dangerous monsters and traps that require you to KILL one of the brothers in order to advance. But thanks to the magical scroll, you can resurrect the brothers from a multitude of one-hit deaths, ranging from being sliced in half, eaten by creatures, burned alive and more. While progressing through the game, you will unlock new spells that grant abilities to conquer the increasingly difficult challenges ahead.
As you progress, you will unlock new spells that grant diverse abilities to conquer the increasingly difficult challenges ahead. Be careful because these brothers are poor at magic and one bad spell can mean death!

REZ PLZ tells the story of Arcan and Zeph, two young apprentice wizards. When their school is overrun by evil forces, the duo has to work together to defeat the evil wizards of Dark Arcanum. The catch: They’re both terrible at magic. Although Arcan and Zeph learn spells along the way, their progress is slow. When they die, the Resurrection Scroll brings them back to life.

COMPLETIONISTS BEWARE. Achievements are completely broken as they constantly lock themselves back. You get an achievement for dying 25 times. Then another one for 50 deaths, but the first locks again (as if you've never obtained it) and you cannot unlock it anymore. In a similar fashion obtaining an A rank wipes out S ranks that you've obtained previously. The best part is that upon closing the game ALL achievements become reset anyway. It's a damn shame because it seemed interesting.
Awesome game, very fun Co op. Challenging too. Glad this is finally out! But. There are quite a few bugs. I.e switches not working and having to restart a level because of that. Or even certain mechanics not working. This makes it very frustrating on difficult levels. Which gives me mixed feelings about this game. But upon further review... I still have had fun playing it. The good fun outweighs the annoying bugs (I do still continue to play it). The devs responded to this review and seemed to be working on these issues, which shows a desire to make a polished, flawless game. And I can appreciate that kind of devotion. Keep up the good work! Bought this day one because friends and I played the first level at pax west 2017 and devs seemed like great people to support! A caring response to this review further shows that.
If you're looking for some dark humor, puzzles, awesome hand drawn art/sprites, finding treasure, and some good ol' solid platforming, you've found the right game. Yes, there are 2 characters to control, but playing in single player feels and works very well. Plus, you don't gotta deal with pesky player 2 trying to hog all the glory. >_> I have also played with a second player, and it's a lot of fun! Especially trying to figure out some of the bigger puzzles, or when you feel a bit betrayed and just wanna hit them into a lava pit. UwU Playing with a Xbox controller so far, and it works very well. I use the d-pad, not the analog stick; it feels better for a platformer like this. Have yet to try the other modes like speed run mode, but that's got me excited to see what more this game has to offer. You can also pet a doggo! That alone give this a 7 outta 5.
it was fun up until you soft locked at a puzzle and were unable to go any further into the game bricking your playthrough. was doing the correct answer for the puzzle (even looked up walkthoughs) but the game wouldn't let us pass so it's hard to recommend a broken game.
This is a really fun puzzle platformer. I'd highly encourage you to find a buddy to play with as this game really shines in co-op. The humor and puzzles can be a bit irreverent and brutal, but I find that very endearing. I've been using a keyboard which takes a bit of getting used to, but I imagine playing on a controller would feel a lot more fluid. I love that the game offers Steam Remote Play support so only one person has to own the game and you can still play with your buddy online.
This game feels criminally ignored for how good it is. Yeeting yourself and loved ones into deadly hazards is entirely too appropriate for the days we live in. I've only played in co-op, which is just fantastic. The central mechanic of needing to kill yourself or your brother to navigate a level works very well, and sets up a lot of the great kinds of laughs that emerge from something going wrong. It feels very appropriate for a wide range of skills and ages as well. There's often one set of actions that is a little easier than the other, so someone who isn't as good as games can still contribute without being frustrated by the tougher timing of some platforming areas. But if both people are good at games, then they can just alternate who is in the support role. The classic mode is challenging because it limits the number of resurrects per stage, but there is a more forgiving infinite rez mode which is arguably the most fun way to play, because there is no punishment for faffing ...
tbh its the game that i didnt know i was waiting to play , it should get more attention the mechanics in this game are amazing each level intrduces a new ability a new puzzle , the dialog is funny the story is ehh but tbh this is the type of game where you can enjoy everything from the funny deaths to the rezzing to the soundtrack and to the weird glitches that make you restart the level
Had an absolute blast playing with my friend. I don't think we were able to go more than 5 minutes without laughing at the shenanigans we were able to get up to. When you're not busy trying to kill each other, the puzzles were fun and interesting, and it was cool seeing how even just between the two of us the different ways we would try to solve them. Highly recommended, especially with a good friend!
Very good game.
