About This Game

Out of cash, out of luck, out on the fringe. Juno Markev has a killer to tail, a debt to pay, and more trouble headed her way. Rebel Galaxy Outlaw takes place in a greasy, blue-collar world of outlaws, truckers, cops and thieves.

Strap into a variety of spacecraft, settle a score in a filthy space-bar over a game of 8-ball, rock out to over 24 hours of music, and engage in white-knuckle dogfights.

In the Dodge Sector it’s hard to get by – and even harder to get even.

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is an open-world space combat adventure game, spread across the nearly 40 systems of the Dodge Sector. Play as a mercenary, a trader, a pirate, or whatever mix of the three you feel fits you best. With an engaging storyline and a full conversation system, you can follow the narrative, or ignore it and forge your own path at any time.

Engage in white-knuckle combat, and use the included Autopursuit function to effortlessly fly like an ace, instead of space-jousting for hours. Save up your credits, buy a new ship, kit it out, and then paint it in a fully-fledged 3d-painting application. Make a fortune exploiting lucrative trade routes. Join guilds, help or hunt those in distress, buy and outfit your own space station. Grab a tip in a local bar and hunt hidden treasure. In your down-time, shoot some 8-ball, play some dice-poker, or aim for the high-score in an arcade game in the local seedy watering hole. Flip through the 7 included radio stations and vast music library for just the right track to fit your current mood.

I keep trying to like this game. But it just isn't very good. Pros: Style Arcade action Scratches a certain itch for those of us who really liked Freelancer Cons: Buggy. Been out for 5 years now, and the first mission still breaks. Missions break easily for some reason. NPCs forget what they were doing. And god forbid you get a save at a weird spot. You can brick your playthrough. The first time I tried to play the game, I lost my first playthrough because the game auto saved in the middle of a scripted event. I died, reloaded, and none of the scripts ran correctly. So I was stuck in the middle of no where, constantly "In Combat", but nothing was there, and I couldn't fast travel anywhere. Just straight up soft locked and had to start over. There's no mission restart, there's no loading to a previous save. They obviously want to create a single save experience, but the game isn't solid enough to actually pull it off. Combat gets SUPER repetitive. Shallow. You've pretty muc...

A fun space combat game with a decent story that exudes space western vibes combined with the mechanics of older entries from the Wing Commander series. An overall great atmosphere with good audio and visuals that make it fun for hours at a time. It can get a little grindy and repetitive at times, and it's not without a few quirks that annoy the hell out of me, but the good parts vastly outweigh the awkward bits. If you love a good space exploration game, but don't want all the overhead of something like Elite, I definitely recommend giving this one a go.
Highlights
- Fun combat that isn't too hard to get the hang of. Engagements are exciting and the enemies have enough tactical skills to keep it challenging. The kaboom factor is good, I really enjoy the audio-visual effects of combat. - Good options for auto-aim and auto-follow assists with some configurable settings and difficulty-based options for tweaking how much hand-holding you get. - Campy and funny story is there ...

This is a flying game, and the flying doesn't feel smooth, fun, intuitive, or enjoyable. The menus are convoluted, hard to read, and hard to navigate. They didn't even stick with a consistent art style - it switches between Cowboy Beebop nostalgia and late 90's 3d. I have to say I just don't get what they were going for with the gameplay and bizarre aesthetic choices. It's too bad - I loved the first one.

I bought 2 flight sticks to play this game. Had them set up in a few minutes. I have then proceeded to spend multiple hours across a few play sessions playing pool in the bars. I've yet to start the first mission. I still pilot a garbage truck. But damn if this isnt the best game to play pool in!!!
