About This Game

Ashes is first person adventure with a heavy focus on narrative and atmosphere.

We mixed a few game genres to try to achieve something new.
The game draws from walking simulators, first person medieval adventures and horror games. It's not exactly a horror game nor it is an adventure rpg, it is something in the middle to be enjoyed in one sitting, like a short interactive bed time story for casual players.

You play as a man that wakes up with memory loss in a dungeon, as you progress through the dungeon you get your memories back unraveling the mystery behind your situation.

With puzzles, first person combat, weapon management, platforming and story telling, we hope to give a new kind of adventure to the everyday gamer.

Features
  • Engaging story
  • First person combat
  • First person platforming
  • Puzzles
  • Destructible objects for stress relief

*See note in the comments for an update on my stance with the developer about my original review and video linked below: ---- My Original Unedited Review from Oct 27, 2017 ---- This game delivers on graphics and especially on the sound effects which is very well done. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSRmNCIRv8s&feature=youtu.be Sadly however, "Graphics and sound" is the least important part of my own personal scoring of these games I review on Steam being only worth 10% of my overall score. The Value scored only a 20 out of 40, and the fun scored only a 16 out of 30 which hurts my overall score of this game which was a 60% overall score. The reason the value is so low is that this game can be beat in just over an hour. I got stuck at the final and main puzzle of the game because I thought there was a bug tied to the orbs you can shatter with your weapon but there was two orbs I couldn't shatter for some reason close to the final puzzle. These two orbs are the only two orbs i...

I was not expecting much for the price but was pleasantly surprised . Graphics good , storyline only really made sense at the end , puzzles made you look around for clues , and enemies reasonably good AI . Worth a playthrough , whether I would play again - not for a while . Hope the developer will build on this and do some more .

Pretty good game. It is a mix of a walking simulator and a first person melee combat game. Fighting is really simple though and you won't fight that much. There are also a few puzzles and platforming sections here and there. The game is just about one hour long, but the price is very fair for that. The only downsides I see are the story and the very slow movement speed of your character and that the stamina empties so quickly.

Poor. And overpriced for what it is. The self-proclaimed comparisons to skyrim do it no favours. It's an hour long trek through a standard dungeon setting with nothing much interesting happening. You walk corridors, collect skull collectibles, bash skeletons, jump a few platforms, and that's it. Avoid. EDIT: Just noticed that two of the positive reviewers on this game have only 2 reviews on steam - and their other review is for the other game by this developer. Read into that what you will.

Ashes is a great somewhat challenging walking simulator with amazing graphics and enviroment, but the best part is the story. Not gonna spoil it, but it has a good plot. I ended up playing it multiple times trying to speedrun it because it's a very relaxing game and a good way to blow off some steam. I recommend it very much.

************************************************************************************************************************************ Not bad i though buying this game would turn out uselessbut it ended turning interesting, sad it so short , finished the game in 51 minutes BUT! This game has: great animations, fluid gameplay, i saw no fps drops and i saw no bugs nor gltches(im a glitch and bug hunterXD) The only things that i didn´t like was how short the game was and the text while the character speaks. recomended?? yes!

Story was predictable, jumping is bad, combat is fine but range is crazy small. I missed a skull i think but idk if that matters in a diff ending or not. It is cheap enough but the time spent isn't worth it. Voice acting is bad and you never care for the character anyway. Just save your time unless you are very easily amused. (just so you know, I did come into this giving it the benefit of the doubt.)

Fun short narrative with decent voice acting. The game play is a bit basic, but easy to grasp.
