---NOTICE--- This review was made at release there have been updates and some things may be fixed. for the lazy. This game is a hidden gem with art, music, combat and story all fitting super well together. with some minor technical issues and no performance loss i say its well worth the price! i must note a few issues that stand above the rest. -No mouse support. -keys are not rebindable (this does have the side effect of making you press keys to see what they do although thats not a massive issue.) -no graphical settings only windowed/fullscreen. (This is largely negated by the artstyle and minimal effects. i dont see many computers having trouble with this. yes there is a brightness slider but it wont impact performance.) -does have a fair bit of flashing at some points might be an issue for people with epilepsy. anyway with those out of the way it is a hidden gem. -Story- Set in a world with both magic and technology with witty writing and some fourth wall breaking moments with ...
The Greater Good is a very fun and enjoyable turn based RPG. It puts it own twist on the turn based combat making it unique to the game. The artstyle is very creative and adds nice touch to the game. The story is so far is pretty good and has it own sense of humour during cutscenes with NPC/Characters. Also has your main bad guy whom you simply just want to kick his butt. Overall The Greater Good is worth your time and a buy.
The Greater Good is an indie 2d sidestrolling rpg-lite about how Marlo saves the world, with help of others... Or that's my take on it, anyway. Beat it and got most of the achievements in 9 hours taking my time, using a controller. Difficulty can be set, but it's easy-medium in general. The good: - The dialogue wins this game twice over. - The music is unique, fits the game, and is pretty cool. Not in a guitar-thrashing mega way, more in a beep boop memorable way. - The polygonal graphics seem cheap at first, but they're done really well the more you play. Like dang those cities. - The main characters are all memorable. - There's a wolf! Awooooo! - Unlike most rpgs out there, this one is to-the-point in terms of where it's going. There's no real hard grinding to worry about, and you only have to fight a few monsters between here and there. There's some extra stuff at the end, and quite a few bosses, both requiring a little planning or strategy to get through...
Music was absolutely fantastic and the difficulty is perfect as it's challenging but not too much. My only gripe is that inactive party members don't receive exp so I needed to grind them up to par.
A unique artstyle, simple combat, a good story, and an absolutely bangin' soundtrack come together to make The Greater Good..... Pretty fluffin' good!!!
Awesome sound design and sound track. Really cool art. Solid jokes backed up by competent, turned based gameplay. I really enjoy this. https://youtu.be/sa8ytQeboJo
I really liked The Greater Good, it had an amazing story and i really like how the side scroller aspect didn't take away from the immersion. I even bought the soundtrack, i loved the sound design.
Pretty good game with a unique art style, also short so it doesn't require a massive time commitment like many jrpgs do
I liked the game although it does have some flaws. First of all I liked that there were no random encounters. That would have made this game a lot more tedious for me. The story was alright but I would have liked more focus on the characters. The bosses were interesting for the most part although the optional bosses were a bit too hard (I am aware that probably was the point but I didn't want to grind to be able to fight an optional boss). The customization system wíth rings and such was nice and allowed you to choose the way you played the game more freely. Lastly, the first chapter got a bit too silly at times but overall I liked the game.
