The Survivalists is a captivating blend of survival, crafting, and exploration set within a vibrant, procedurally generated world teeming with challenges and opportunities. Developed by Team17 in collaboration with the creators of The Escapists series, the game builds upon familiar survival tropes but introduces a charming and lighthearted aesthetic that sets it apart from many of its more serious counterparts. It invites players to carve out their own path on mysterious islands, gathering resources, building shelters, and fending off hostile creatures—all while managing hunger, health, and stamina in a dynamic and unpredictable environment. At its core, The Survivalists offers a well-rounded survival experience that is both accessible to newcomers and rewarding for veteran players. The game’s mechanics revolve around exploration and resource management, where players must forage for food, gather materials, and craft tools essential for survival. About This Game
The island is alive! Your newfound home will change with day/night cycles as you explore and uncover its secrets. Hunt (or be hunted by!) animals for food and an array of mythical enemies, who aren’t necessarily pleased to see you. Get quests from a Mysterious Stranger or find them washed up on the shore. Prepare to trek into a procedurally generated wilderness, with a variety of biomes, for an adventure that’s unique to every player.
Finding the perils of island life too much or just looking to share your building expertise with friends? The Survivalists has you covered! Complete joint adventures, gain loot, trade and ultimately survive together and as you and up to three fellow castaways explore fantastical islands.
If you’re in need of a builder, a lumberjack or even a soldier, the monkeys on the island can be tamed and trained to help you with everyday tasks or back you up on raids to a fanatic camp! The Mimic System means a wide variety of functions can be performed by your cheeky new friends, with monkey management becoming key to surviving the island’s challenges.
The secret to survival is to make the most of the resources around you. Whether that’s piecing together a primitive axe to chop wood or mixing up a refreshing fruit smoothie to keep the hunger at bay, you can discover recipes and expand your options across food, item or structure crafting trees.
Looking for an epic sword to hang on your hut wall or want to lay waste to encroaching hostiles? What you seek could be in one of the many temples scattered around the island. However, getting your hands on the loot won’t be easy so any would-be raiders will need to prepare for their treasure hunting escapades.

I got this game on special, and for anyone else who gets it on special I'd say it's a good buy. I have around 11 hours clocked and this IS a thumbs-up but it comes with caveats. The controls are rather annoying. Trying to change what a monkey is holding is just about impossible if they are standing between two different constructions that can construct things. I have also accidentally traded things I wanted to keep with what a monkey is holding. The raid mechanic is a bit annoying and I died the first 2-3 times or so but once you get a hang of the game you can handle them pretty well. In the end, I'd personally prefer to play Minecraft or Terraria however if you can get this game at a low price then you can have some fun with it. I've had over 10 hours of MOSTLY enjoyment out of it and the annoyance of dying can be overlooked by ALT-TABing out of the game and ending the game without saving which can result in basically turning back time before having died. If it was as rough a...
I really tried to like this one, but ultimately it just suffers too much from a wildly ineffective and convoluted control scheme, and far too little useful information on how to play despite MANY tutorials you will be constantly interrupted by at critical moments. I've seen it discounted up to 90%, so if you want to spend 3 bucks to try it out I guess go ahead, but this was just not an enjoyable experience for me.
even though i dont like the game it reminds me when me and my brother used to play it together before he... changed. thank you for reading this
... yikes. I played this game for 82 minutes. I built a base (loosely defined, it was the starting area and some hay bale walls). I got the first monkey and sent them to do some tasks. I fought one raid. I crafted... SOME stuff. This is the kind of game that should be a free mobile game that you can get items by watching ads for. That's what the gameplay loop feels like to me. Essentially, you gather long grass, leaves, timber, and pebbles, and just craft them up into various things. Those are the main four ingredients at the beginning of the game. They stay the main four for as long as I can tell. Crafting eventually gets to a point where you have to make 5 stone slabs with 6 pebbles each to make one stone thing, and use that stone thing to make another thing. This repeats with all ingredients (not accurate numbers, but that's the gist of it). That plays, to me, like a mobile game with a match-3 element or something. It's not good. The crafting system isn't smart. The crafting menu...
The game hangs occasionally. Also hits seem to take effect a second behind which is annoying too. The two factors together make the game not fun.
monkey
Save file got corrupted and lost all progress. Apparently this is a very common issue and sometimes happens every 2 days. This happened to me on the second day of playing. I assume the devs have also abandoned it. Do not buy.
