I want this game to be good, but really it's just too basic right now. The environment looks great, although its a bit monochrome. But the only thing to do is run around and pick up logs, meaning u press E and they disappear with no effects, no inventory, no animations. Then you run back and press E to put logs in the fire. That's it. Theres no fire details. Nothing visually changes when you fuel the fire. A roaring fire looks identical to one about to go out. Nothing ever happens in this game. Just snow and wind sounds and some health bars to look at. If the game gets updated with more details or mechanics I will try it again.

https://youtu.be/XXmetnL5fYM Wood collecting simulator. Not even joking here. That is the aim of the game. Run around collecting enough wood, to fill a box and keep your campfire going. If you fail to do either, or you freeze to death from being out collecting wood for too long then it is game over. Once you figure out the balance needed to keep the fire going (hint add small amounts) and if you have filled the box by nightfall then you win. And then you get to do it over and over again. On a small map. Basically boring and repetitive busy work, with at least some pretty decent graphics and an okay sound track.
I love survival games. So even when it described as a small survival game I had to pick it up. It takes some great effort in finding wood when you want to survive the night which i like. The graphics are amazing! Thanks Pickle Drugs for the game!!!!!!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_a5G-C0-0I
Before Nightfall Positives: + Good graphics + Nice nature + Ok to find wood in the snow + The achievements + Not so stressfull as the sequel + Ok difficulty level Negatives: - Hard to pick up wood sometimes (doesnt respond) - No music or sounds (except the fire and when dealing with the wood) - No wildlife - Hard to find the golden branch - Not enough to see or explore - Very short (over in about 45 minutes) Total Score: 6/10
Seems broken. Got it on the winter sale for 49 cents. When it runs you zip through the forest trying to collect firewood before you freeze. No luck there. Just as I was trying to go back for more wood and try to put it in the box or on the fire, it was simply too much for the game to handle and it froze. Then when I exited and began again the title screen was just the background. The good: Pretty, you're collecting firewood. The bad: Broken. I tried fixing the title screen and nothing including the devs suggestion worked. I even tried a compatibility troubleshoot. Nothing. The woodbox refused to work for me. Simply not enough time to walk about admiring the winter woods.
This game does exactly what it sets out to do - nothing more, nothing less. It's a short challenge that'll take you probably an hour and half, in which time you've likely both beaten the game and gotten all five achievements. The game isn't trying to be Rust or something else, it's just a simple, singular survival challenge: Make sure you have enough wood stockpiled to last through the night! If your wood crate is full, and the fire is still going when night comes, you win. Simple as that. And it's a fun challenge, for the duration. Worth the asking price. That said, there are some improvements that could be made: * A compass or more recognizable landmarks, so as not to get so easily lost. (I see many complain about getting lost.) * Saving the settings, so they do not reset with every game. * Less motion blur, to make it less frustrating to miss firewood when moving about. * Make firewood stand out against the vegetation a bit more, because they blend together, and as soon as it get...

A nice game for this price. Graphics - 7/10 Gameplay is simple but exciting. So that's pretty good timekiller.
