About This Game

The Deepest Fear

15-year-old Bernie Janson had a normal, high school life, before a terrible car crash sending his mother to death. What's worse, he was in the car with her and he watched her die but unable to help. Bernie became overwhelmed with trauma and couldn't leave his house for days. But he saw his mother once again...

One day, Bernie discovered a new type of horror game called The Nightmare Machine. By scanning deep inside the player’s brain, it brings out their deepest fear and turns it to a physiological horror that will hunt them. Bernie was brave and decided to play. And before he knew it, he was seconds away before blasting off in what he presumed to be a horror game. Horror? Yes. Game? No. What he saw was real. He saw his mother. But is it really his mother? Or a sociopath. Or is it just a game? Reveal the truth in Bernie's Nightmare...

The Escape

Bernie wakes up inside this strange house he had never seen before. His head is hurting like it’s going to explode in any second. He sees a table besides him. There is a flashlight and wait! There is also a note - Welcome to the Nightmare machine. Immediately Bernie remembers what’s going on. He then hears a familiar woman’s voice crying, it is his mother. But is it? His mother is now a half human half zombie with a burned face and mouth that shows all her teeth. Bernie doesn’t feel very good, he wants to stop this game. But there is no way to this, except going through the main door in the house, that’s locked and the key is nowhere to be seen. In order to return to reality, Bernie must search the house for the way out while avoiding his monster mom who tries to kill him.

The Gameplay

You play as Bernie, search the house and find the way out. There are places you can hide, puzzles for you to solve, objects for you to find. There are 3 difficulty modes: Easy, Hard, Impossible. If it’s your first time playing, try the easy mode to get a feel of what to do, you have the ability to turn on lights in the house. With the Hard mode, there are no lights in the house except your flashlight. If you manage to survive, challenge yourself with the Impossible mode. In which Marny- Bernie’s mom always knows where you’re at. You must be completely familiar with the map and be creative with the gameplay. Good luck!

You know you're making a name for yourself when an avid horror connoisseur sees your name and groans in pain before ever actually experiencing your game. Bernie's Nightmare is another horror title from developer/publisher Kevin Yang Games, the creator of Jack Is Missing. There's not a lot to say here, so this review will be brief. Bernie's Nightmare is yet another "avoid the monster" game where you solve a couple of quick puzzles while trying not to die to some patrolling AI that cries incessantly. There's roughly 15 minutes of gameplay, mostly because the main character's movement is so terribly slow; the "run" function is barely 10% faster than base movement speed. There's no story. There are no scares. There's not even any scary music. The scariest thing about this release is just how broken the controls are and the fact that they're almost sentient since they only work when they feel like it. There are three difficulties, each which give a more aggressive AI and darker graphics. ...

This game is really fun and one of my favorites, but my only concern is that the person who wants to get you goes in the same place everytime. You should also add amination and to nerf the radius for her reach. Lastly, you should make the jumpscare more of a scare then just blodd on the screen and add noises, please. 10/10 thanks! p.s Also add a more of a story that makes the whole game make more sense. :)

Graphics, basic. Storyline, short, Searching: both easy and hard for the last object unless you are good at looking in bins. randomness: yeah, the enemy will walk anywhere in the house, bugs: for me yes there was, the main bug was clicking objects. I thought it was my mouse but it wasn't. This was awful when it came to being chased because you couldn't hide fast enough. Overall, I do like the game for its simplicity, standardness and easy map, the only issue as shown in my review below was that the game found it hard to allow me to pick up objects quickly especially when it came to having to hide. Do give this game a go, for all you know the bugs I had you mighten get them. Here's the video that describes the main bug I had: https://youtu.be/5k5uyqeP16I

I enjoyed this game. I would suggest reading the controls before playing. First time encountering the monster was scary. If the monster and the player could both move faster, that would make it a more intense experience imo. Also, when the monster gets you, it would be gnarly if there was more than just blood spattered on the screen. Good game for the price.
