was expecting a decent rougelike but got way more not a hard game but some parts are challenging the secrets were so well done they werent just "find this hidden room" they actually had a bit more depth to them simple controls but enough for this type of game loved the art style, the noir office area contrasts so well with the colourful biomes through the doors writing and story was fantastic kept me engaged the whole time super memorable characters that evolve with you during the game really dont have many cons besides the combat being "fairly" bare bones but god i really did like this game hope this gets a sequel cos it deserves one

This is a B- game. It feels harsh to give it a thumbs down, but given it currently sits at 93% rating at time of writing, I figure its worth giving a dissenting opinion here. The environment, the music, and the visual style are all wonderful. Much of this game is fantastic. However, at the core of it, everything revolves around the combat and the movement. I would call both the combat and movement "subpar." Movement often feels incredibly clunky, dodges will not occur with the timing or direction you expect, and you will certainly fall off the edge of the level over and over again. Some enemy attacks will have hitboxes at unexpected times, or of unexpected size given the visuals. Some boss fights are made more difficult by adding a bunch of slow moving homing projectiles, which is not particularly difficult but I did find very annoying. So would I recommend it? No. But would I actively recommend against playing it? Also no. Play it if you really want to, but know that the central mec...

A minimalist cute style of soulslike, Death's Door is not as demanding as the games we're used to nor is it a total walk in the park, it knows what it offers and does that well enough. Combat does take some getting used to what with no defensive skills like parry or block and until you get enough to speed up dodging and attack speed you'll feel somewhat slow at the beginning, but thats not the say the game isnt rewarding in its challenge. Not to mention theres alot that can be taken from the message of its story which I'd like to keep a mystery for anyone who's interested in experiencing the game yourself. Your mileage will vary whether yew play till the credits roll or 100% but either way the game is worth your purchase. Have fun!
Possibly the cutest soulslike and definitely the funniest, without compromising on the things that make soulslikes great. Tough boss fights, lots of secrets to find (including a hidden ending), different play styles with varied weapons and magic, and a surprisingly melancholic story. Beautiful music, too; I'll have the theme melody, which is used to brilliant effect in boss music and quiet exploration tracks, echoing in my head for weeks to come.
GREAT! At the beginning I was kinda lost as maps are designer like mazes. Some more than others. No map. Stages do not have any recognisable features that you would remember the way (i.e. specific building). Apart from that minor thing this, I had a blast. Very well designed. Both graphically and gameplay wise. Would recommend even at full price.
I ended up on Death's Door without realizing I had played Acid Nerve's previous (and more ambitious) title Titan Souls within a year of each other. While I recommend this game, I highly recommend Titan Souls. Why? Because it is the better game. Death's Door is a very solid experience that is far better in its second half than its first, especially if you go for 100% completion. If you stick to the base campaign its still a solid little adventure, and one that anyone familiar with dungeon crawlers can enjoy, but that's as far as I'd go. The best elements are in the characters, and presentation that drip with charm. For my 2 cents, the game jerked me back into consciousness with the introduction of the very human sailor and his wonderful restaurant that provides you with hints to the various powerups throughout the world. Art direction and music are at times stellar but usually serve their means to an end for cohesion's sake. The flashes of brilliance within Death's Door come oft...
Death’s Door is a finely crafted action-adventure game that blends tight combat mechanics, melancholic storytelling, and a beautifully stylized world into an experience that feels at once familiar and fresh. Developed by Acid Nerve and published by Devolver Digital, the game immediately sets a distinctive tone—casting you as a small, black-feathered crow employed as a reaper of souls in a bureaucratic afterlife. What begins as a simple soul-collection job quickly turns into a larger quest involving lost doors, ancient powers, and the mystery of what happens when beings try to cheat death. Despite its bleak premise, the game’s dry humor, surreal characters, and elegant presentation make the journey anything but grim. From the very beginning, Death’s Door excels in world-building. The environments—ranging from overgrown ruins to fog-choked cemeteries and eerie mansions—are all rendered in a crisp, isometric art style with muted color palettes that bloom to life in key moment...
Really enjoyed the game! It's not super long, and in my opinion, is worth completing to 100%. The story and characters were fun, and progression felt rewarding as new skills were unlocked.
I can't feel it I loved playing Titan's soul I love playing Dark Souls but the combat in this game felt more like a chore especially when I just want to return to an area to solve a puzzle its not a bad game but the only joy i felt was the puzzle aspect of finding boss weaknesses and shiny things and traversing areas I think that's why I enjoyed Titan Souls it was a nice mixture of puzzle and action in boss fights I think that's where the developers strength lies Death's Door combat felt too little options for how much you spent time with enemies where titan souls was a fun one hit ko time
