The lesser evil against the greater ...
A good shooter with simple RPG mechanics ... Played on the highest difficulty setting ... No, you won't scare a veteran of Duke Nukem and Doom ... :} 🜂 Positive 🜄 ☉ Shooting is a pleasure, and it is very important ... ☉ The arenas are simple, not too tangled, some can be run through in a couple of minutes, which is a definite plus for me... ☉ I liked the RPG elements and weapon upgrades ... ☉ The monsters are similar in terms of mechanics, but their designs are different and interesting, so they don't get boring ... 🜁 Negative 🜃 ☽ I was thrown out of the texture twice, so I had to replay the level ... ☽ The last levels were a bit annoying because of the possibility of falling into lava ... ☽ The spells are interesting, but I didn't feel like testing this build...
Subjective rating - 8/10
☔ Dr_Andrain ☔
❓ What is this
Project Warlock (2018) is a retro-inspired first-person shooter developed by Buckshot Software - created almost entirely by a single young developer, Jakub Cisło, while still a teenager. It channels the spirit of DOOM, Hexen, and Wolfenstein 3D, combining their frantic combat with modern upgrades and progression systems.
❔ How I played
Completed the campaign across several sessions. Experimented with different weapons, magic upgrades, and perk builds to test both gun-focused and spell-heavy approaches. Totally, near 10 hours.

🕹️ Gameplay
The game shines in its combat. Movement is fast, enemies swarm aggressively, and weapons hit with satisfying impact. The magic system and upgrade mechanics provide an extra layer compared to classic 90s shooters. Still, like the old-school games it emulates, repetition and punishing checkpoints can test patience. ✅ Pros: + Faithful to 90s FPS feel, but with modern responsiveness ...
Project Warlock is your classic boomer shooter with pixelated graphics and fast paced combat, much like older Doom titles which this game probably took a heavy inspiration from. It's your ultimate badass shooter with a huge arsenal of weapons to choose from. Very solid perk/level system that lets you tailor your character to your personal preferences. The game may be rough around the edges for some players, but at it's core it's really fun and engaging. Soundtrack is not that bad, it's just alright, and at times the hitboxes can be off, especially with melee combat. I don't know what are ya'll on about talking about how this game is full of glitches, I haven't found a single glitch in nearly 3 hours of playtime, and I will most likely play this through as I find it oddly satisfying, unlike some other boomer shooters I played recently. This game costs 11 euros at full price, you can't really have extremely high expectations with that in mind, can you now? For what it is, a solid boo...
It was pretty good at times, plenty of visual glitches and just a bad time, one time i was chased by a enemy's second form that was stuck underground, i fell underground by walking backwards into some enemy. The weapons were good to use but just so many go unused because i didn't really see why i would change my shotgun and uzi combo and the other stuff, rarely did i have a reason to use the sword or flame thrower or whatever else. You should give it a try but don't forget about the visual and mechanical glitches sometimes i just couldn't fire my double-barrel shotgun
This FPS has personality in spades, but its technical issues and frustrating design choices hold it back from being a must-play. The game is un-optimized for a controller; my character constantly drifts to the right, and input lag made crucial movements impossible. I would start a level with NO weapon equipped and then the controller would not recognize any command to switch weapons or open the weapon wheel. This is a death sentence in a fast-paced shooter. The hit boxes are another major issue—I felt like my character was three times the size of every enemy, leading to frequent and frustrating deaths that felt completely unearned. While the charming personality might draw you in, the frustrating controls and a baffling decision to prevent saving on the fly on a single player game make this a difficult game to recommend.
Nice doom like game but smoother in controls
Quite short, played on Hard (Player takes double damage) and found it a bit too easy. The Guns are nice, I like the Throwing Daggers. The level design is often confusing, and the game has some Bugs. I got it for 1$ during sale, it worth a bit more than that tho.
Extremely fun shooter with a lot of secrets scattered throughout. Just a fun game to pass the time and has some unique weapons and a nice upgrade system. The soundtrack is an absolute banger as well.
A solid boomer shooter with some nifty features. Gameplay is your classic early 90's inspired first person fast paced shooter, no reloads, no jumping and labyrinth maps with key hunting. The game does have an upgrade system which allows weapon and character upgrades which is nice and easy to use. Shooting mechanics are very basic but fun, there are no headshots or weak points to exploit, you point and shoot until your enemy is dead. Guns are plentiful and unique with the option to upgrade them with different new abilites. You also get unique spells to use against your enemies, some of them are incredibly powerful once upgraded while others are kinda useless... The game throws various different enemies at you, each one with it's unique attacks and abilities so you'll have to get aquainted with each and everyone and strategize accordingly to defeat them. Bosses are also very 90's inspired and offer a good challenge. The game has some minor issues and bugs with some annoying ones l...
