I'm a fan of puzzle games so I immediately checked it out when a friend told me about this. The puzzles start out pretty easy, but they get hard fast. It gets more interesting as you go onto later levels because the puzzles become more physics dependent - it definitely put my puzzle solving skills to test and pushed me to the limit. That being said, I definitely recommend playing into the later stages to really gauge the difficulty of the game as a whole. Complaints would be that the time limit made it frustrating sometimes since I would have to start over in the midst of a hard puzzle, but it does fit in with the entire concept of the salaryman working on a deadline I suppose.

About This Game

Through clever physics interactions and manipulation of different bricks and platforms, players must reorganize an edifice of unstable bricks, in order to create a route for the salaryman to reach the exit.

Physics-Dependent Puzzling: Solving puzzles is all about leveraging physics properties like weight, balance and force. Challenge your brain by both experimenting with solutions as well as thinking a few steps ahead in getting the Salaryman to his destination.
Featuring Optional VR Mode: Supporting both Oculus and HTC Vive headsets, users can start puzzle solving in the full VR mode, granting the player 360 degrees of freedom to immerse him or herself in the world of Salaryman.
Edgy Art Style, 80’s Japan Soundtrack: The game features a minimalistic, monochromatic visual style, contrasted with a cheerful, classic 80’s Japanese soundtrack, to evoke and symbolize the bleak, yet often ironic and humorous existence that is the “Salary Man”.
6 Chapters, 78 Levels: The game features over 8 hours of gameplay, with 6 chapters, 60 basic levels, and 18 new exclusive hidden levels for PC. Each chapter introduces a new puzzle mechanic to the mix, making puzzle progression increasingly more complex and difficult.
Unlock Hidden Levels and Achievements: Unlock hidden levels (featuring new gameplay special mechanics) by collecting the coins scattered throughout the previous levels, often in off-path locations.

Don't be fooled... The puzzle gets harder! The music is groovy and blends nicely with the simple, dark theme of the game. Sometimes there were couple of issues moving the blocks around, but overall, I enjoyed it.There are lots of chapters to play, different non-repetitive puzzles to solve and some levels to unlock (which I haven't unlocked all yet), so more challenges for me. Worth it for an indie game. Now on to the next puzzles...
I like the overall atmosphere that the game sets, it harkens back to childhood days playing Jenga with friends (but this is way more challenging). Some points I liked: Puzzles - challenging - addicting - so many levels to unlock - Music - funky retro love it (even if I don't understand it, now I have LSS) Controls - easy (not using any gear) Quotes - the best! Definitely worth it if you like brain teaser puzzle games!
This game is right up my alley… puzzles are on point and the music was totally unexpected. Am I the only one who started to get attached to the salaryman? Just let the poor dude escape, darned corporate mongers! Anyway, personally I like the type of game that lets you completely focus and sink into the puzzles with nothing else distracting you, so I will definitely continue making my way through this game.
Honestly the puzzles are challenging and will give any puzzle gamer a run for their money. I like what the game is trying to get at with the whole salaryman and depressing workplace kind of thing, the concept in itself is quite unique, so that's definitely something to applaud. There are still aspects of the game that need to be more polished though, and hopefully the devs will continue with patching so more puzzle fans can find out about this game.
Pros 1) puzzles are nicely designed and there are different mechanisms that make the puzzle solving more varied in each chapter 2) the music is original and creates a good atmosphere 3) I like what the developers are getting at with the whole satirical salaryman thing Cons 1) unable to advance further if you're stuck on a level...the difficulty curve is big 2) trouble moving blocks sometimes
There's quite a big difficulty curve on the puzzles, and the stages with the boss in my opinion are the best. I'd recommend it to any puzzle game lover and the soundtrack is a jam.
The monochromatic color scheme and music makes the game really unique. The gameplay is linear but I'd say it's quite a well designed puzzle game with a relatable setting about a drab work life.
Salary Man Escape is jenga-like physics puzzle build up for VR with enjoyable tactile gameplay and very catchy soundtrack. There are 72+ levels starting from soft tutorials and ending with very complicated puzzles that require extensive planning and precise execution. The game introduces new mechanics(and more importantly new songs) with every new stage and keeps it fresh. Puzzles themselves has just the right amount of difficulty and optional objectives are quite challenging. Controls feel a bit weird at first: you can't directly rotate objects or move them vertically and only one motion controller is active. But you get used to it pretty quickly and it is an important restriction to streamline puzzles and avoid turning the game into a physics sandbox. There is a flat screen mode for the game, but manipulating objects with motion controller in VR is way more comfortable than doing it with mouse or gamepad.
checked the game out after seeing a gameplay video on youtube. I played the VR version and wish you could move the blocks both hands, instead only the right hand can be used. other than that the puzzles are intruiging. will keep on playing to see what else the game has to offer.
