Harvested is an interesting take on the RTS genre. RTS games usually have similar gameplay with overlaying game specific mechanics that make each game different. Harvested is a refreshing take because it combines different genre’s (such as top down shooter/tower defense) base mechanics into the standard RTS mechanics instead of just adding onto the already established RTS base. However, this combination of game types can muddle the gameplay slightly. There are times where the genres meld together well, and other times it feels like one, specifically the top down shooter aspect, dominates the others. The real selling point for me beyond the gameplay itself is the music. The music is a great example of why ambiance is so important in interactive media. The music adds a lot to the feel of each situation and is done so well. Overall, it’s a solid game with real potential. 7/10 with room to improve Pros: Gameplay feels solid for the most part Music and ambiance are on point and add a ...

About This Game

Harvested has all the fun you'd expect from a strategy game - resource management, base building, and epic combat.
Additionally, Harvested lets you play as a soldier on the field.
A carefully-designed and meticulously-tested control scheme gives you all the power of a real time strategy game and a top-down shooter. There is no need to switch modes - every action is at your fingertips all the time.
Harvested defies he status-quo of bland procedural generation with hand-crafted maps that cater to specific strategies and conceal rewarding secrets.

Harvested features a massive strategy-driven and story-rich 18 mission campaign. Test your skills in carefully crafted missions.
These missions feature a variety of objectives inspired by the golden age of RTS. Some maps focus on economy, some focus on offense, and others are simply about doing whatever it takes to survive.
Additionally, Harvested features a handful of freeplay maps that cater to players who want to find out how long they can survive on Ceres.

The world is yours to conquer - cut down forests, mine into the mountains, and fish from the local stream. But gathering takes time - why not hire some workers who will do it for you?
As your fortress grows you will build lumber mills, mining camps, and fishing wharfs to train workers who will gather resources for you.
Plant trees and pave roads. Paint rivers and fill them with fish. You are the builder and your base is your own.

Defend your base using exciting top-down shooter mechanics. Choose from a knife, pistol, shotgun, machine gun, or sniper rifle.
Build turrets and barricades for extra strength. Hire a variety of soldier units to back you up.
Two enemy factions, two unique AI types - enemies will attack you with swords, guns, explosives, and more.
There is never a boring moment in Harvested.

The game is a great RTS with a great story and tutorial I have not once felt like I was missing something that I was not told about in the tutorial. I have been looking for a game like this for a long time. The base building/resource gathering is done in away that makes it both fun and challenging. I sometimes get flash back to playing Warcraft 2 watching my workers gather wood and gold. Vashta Entertainment is going on my list of Best indie developers to keep an eye on for future games. They have been helpful in there reposes to both my problems and questions I had.
Harvested is in a very early access stage. The core concepts are solid and the execution is there, but it does need significant polish and debugging. The name of the game now is replayability or a story that wows the pants off of people. Currently the game has neither and I would suggest to the developers to go with random seed maps before they invest into creating a wow-like story. Think, would Rimworld be fun if you could only play one map?
This top down 2d shooter plays extremely well for an early access game. I think what sets it apart is the ability to build bases and defend against enemies like an RTS. I almost feel like I'm playing Age of Empires (which is awesome). There isn't much to complain about but I like to give a fair and balanced review so here goes. -Sometimes the flashlight and lighting in the game is a bit dark which can make navigation difficult. -The tutorial could stress the fact that you can manually harvest resources yourself (great for gold) and that you can manually target your workers (also good for gold). Both of these are pretty minor things especially for an early access game. Great fun for the price!
Really enjoying this game so far! Can't wait to see where the game goes from here since it's in early access. Definitely worth the buy.
Game had some crashing issues, but after quick fix from developers you can save/load your progress without any issues. Have only played tutorial & game seems very nice so far.
Not for me at this price point, the voice acting can charitably be described as "ok", but it along with the text to speech AI booming out at you every few minutes gets irritating pretty quickly. Second mission I notice a bug where attempting to hire the fourth worker will take the resources and count the timer down, but never add the fourth worker.
Being an Early-Access game, it's showing huge potential! I am very much looking forward to seeing what is to come with the game, worth every penny.
The top-down perspective is refreshing and the lore behind the game immerses you in the world the creators have made. The real time strategy aspect lets you decide how hard the game will be, as if you prepare well for the night, you shouldn't have too many problems, but if you waste your time in the day, you likely won't make it through the night. The game is still developing and I am looking forward to seeing what the future has in store for Harvested.
This format for RTS has a lot of potential. Ive only played a few hours and I can already say i like this game. Reminds me of some old sc2 arcade games i used to play a lot actually.
