Mystery Case Files: Rewind Collector's Edition

Mystery Case Files: Rewind is the 17th game in the Myster Case Files series, arguably the long running Hidden Object Series around. Unlike other Big Fish Game titles, the protagonist is actually the same in all the games. MCF: Rewind finds the Master Detective being called out to the Hotel Victory where a large number of unusual occurences are happening. You quickly find out that someone messed with the time stream, and it is up to you to put things aright as you come across people who you met in earlier games of the series. The gameplay of MCF: Rewind is an homage to the first 4 Mystery Case File Games (Huntsville, Prime Suspects, Ravenhearst, Madame Fate). What this means is that to play the game, you will have to pass through Hidden Object Screen after Hidden Object Screen, with a time limit and a limited number of hints to help you. If you've played all the MCF games and love the characters, this game is for you. If you play these games for the hidden object aspect, and ONLY the hidden object aspect, this one's for you. As for me, I'd like a little more... variety in these games? I like the puzzles that they throw at you, or the stories they try to tell, or the ridiculously over the top situations that your character gets into. Instead, this game walked me from one hidden object room to another hidden object room. Over and over and over again. Most of the time, you will find things in the same room twice. Not spread out over time, either, just one after another after another. This is the first game in this genre that I did not play until the end, simply because I couldn't find any reason to stay invested.

I have played this series since the beginning so this kinda feels like going back in time:) I like it, but I can see where the new gamers can feel dissapointed. This game is heavily leaning on the nostalgia factor so if you liked the first two parts you will love this too. One negative aspect. Why the hell must I watch the transitioning animation every time I move to a different room? That is kinda annoying.

Important: Some people might enjoy this game. I personally didn't like it, though I did finish it. It is about 80-90% hidden object scenes. There is NO moving about and finding things. You just move via a map from one hidden object scene to another, with a puzzle in between at times. The puzzles were unusual. The earliest Mystery Case Files game I played was this format, but that one was extremely basic and I didn't even finish it. This one by comparison, was clever enough for this format. I just don't like the format.

i've always enjoyed the mystercase files right from the start and this was enjoyable too ! if youve played the previous versions then i recommend to continue the game just for the fun of it.

The first games of mystery case files were my favourite, this game goes back to the original formula. It's even better because the resolution is good. So far It's my favourite entry in the series.

okay i was a little upset that it went back to the dalimars (come on, let it go already) BUT this game isn't that bad! its got the same style and build as the original games, which it was nice to go back to in an updated look. its definitely not the best, but it was enjoyable. all the callbacks to the previous games were fun, unfortunately it being so similar to the original games it didn't have much plot. The puzzles were fun and there was even a cat room! not great, but good. :)

Back to basis for Mystery Case, great game for lovers of the first editions.

Despite some of the reviews I read, I really enjoyed this game. It has a nice "blast from the past" style, taking the player back to the earlier stages of MCF games. It was nice to take a break from the newer style in between games. I definitely recommend this game

I like that the MCF universe attempted to go back to its roots like the first 4 games, however this one just lacked... everything. The character designs were boring, the Hidden Object scenes were extremely easy, the few puzzles present were no challenge at all, and the game just had no personality whatsoever. This game felt like it was made because they wanted to release something new, but had no real drive or motivation to make a decent and interesting story. With the character designs, i know going from real people to animated characters is a challenge, but these designs felt lazy, and i couldnt even recognise half of them until i was told who they were at the end of the chapter. Overall, i was severely disappointed in this game. I only finished it because im going through all the games in the series. It took me multiple sittings to complete because i got so bored after 10 minutes of playing
