I don't write a lot of reviews, but I've been watching this develop all the way from the developer making the original Mines and Magic on StarCraft II (Custom map on SC2), to posting up a really alpha version on the subreddit for their game, and now launching this. I've been playing the standalones released on reddit as soon as they were up and had fun for hours and hours, and now it's on steam! It's been fun to watch it develop from a custom game on a different engine to coming here onto steam. The idea of a standalone version is great. It's still an early release, so the graphics and a few things are limited, and the interface could still use some work. However, here's some things I really love overall: - The ability to attack map points is great. - Getting resources for each area you attack is great! Being able to upgrade them as you see fit is very cool. Instead of just conquering a map, there's some strategy to it. - Right now it's down to being able to buy one other buil...

Abandoned. No updates or content from dev in going on a year. Game has potential for solid thumbs up if not abandoned.
My friends and I play the sc2 version of this game pretty frequently so I had assumed that with more creative control this game would be an improvement over that one. This game is listed as a work in progress and I would say that's very accurate. If you're a fan of the sc2 version I would stick with that one for now. A few suggestions: - Better Tutorial - had I never played the sc2 version I would not have had a clue what was happening. - Economic Improvements - Perhaps I missed something but the economic function of dumping additional resources seems to be missing in this game, and is a core element of the other. - Lack of unit/race variation - Again, unless I really missed something there is 1 race and that's it. - Clunky UI/Graphics- My eyes were flying all over the place, couldn't make heads or tails of much to begin with based upon the UI itself. - "Go" Button - I really liked this feature, really speeds up gameplay. This would be really nice in the sc2 version where each player ...
Abandoned, worse then the starcraft 2 game mode. It was a waste of time and money. "Don't support people like this."
Well, there is some potential in this game... Although there are few things to improve upon. 1) Balancing... There is none. Currently the game offers only a diehard mode and nothing else. The player is starved for resources. The avilable units are weak and have no AI. They Just march foreward untill they die. Even the range classes that should stay away (or try to distance themselves from the enemy... hit and run tactics... etc...) simply walk into their doom before doing any kind of damage. meh. 2) The zoom. It feels like walking with your face an inch of the ground. Not fun. Increase the range.... please. 3) Difficulty level. There is no choice in the matter. Adding some would be nice. People prefer to enjoy the game and not be frustrated by it....
To be honest, nowhere near the game you originally created in Starcraft 2. Does not deserve to be named the same at all. The trickle of updates has been frustrating, especially when they don't actually add any content to the game. None of any of it makes any sense what-so-ever. Just a bunch of random stuff thrown together. Needs major work, maybe you should have just continued to update your Starcraft 2 map since you weren't going to seriously involve yourself in this games development. It's been years.
This game is conceptually nice. There is a lot of balancing to be done and it's not receiving regular updates. Don't buy it yet. Definitely not worth it.
Oh? It's abandoned? That explains why it's so bad. It's not at all balanced. It's like I'm forced to play hard mode, and no matter what I can't defeat the second level. The 5-10 hour gameplay he talked about is probably to find the right map, for getting a decent amount of resources; if I want to upgrade to get resources, I'm fucked. If I wanted to upgrade units without upgrading resource income, I'm fucked. Over all, friggin' bad game.
It just feels so much more unbalanced. Even the Starcraft 2 Custom Map this originated from was more balanced. cant get past lvl 2.
Ummmm, where is the rest of it?! Six levels and then its over with? I wouldn't quite suggest purchasing this until they progress a bit more. I enjoyed the game, and you could either focus mines from start to win or use units. The Elf squad is ok, but the Dragon unit is not worth going after. One extra resource not worth expending on. I like the items you can bring into battle, but when I finally got something to use the game was done with. I wish there was a warning that there are only 6 active levels, and nothing else to do. Can't even save yet...
