WHAT IS SCP?

SCP originates from the SCP wiki, a community-run collaborative writing project that has been running since 2008. the acronym SCP refers to Special Containment Procedures - and the wiki chronicles the tales and containment procedures of the so-called SCP Foundation.

About the Game

The SCP Foundation has gone dark. Disturbing intel from one of the many Foundation sites, Area-12, an underground biological research and containment facility in West Virginia, has been forwarded to an anomalous branch of the FBI, the Unusual Incidents Unit (UIU).

Upon arrival the UIU are ambushed and trapped within Area-12 by a facility wide lock-down, leaving you alone and without backup. For reasons yet unclear, Area-12 has adopted a new agenda: creating weaponized hybrids of anomalous creatures. Now the UIU must get to the bottom of “why” and stop them before these monstrosities are unleashed on innocent civilians.

Anomalies are reality-defying objects, artifacts and creatures that inhabit the cracks in our world. These anomalies are what the SCP Foundation was supposed to contain; and their anomalous nature makes them dangerous to the likes of you.

  • SCP-173-B // The Sculpture

  • SCP-610 // The Flesh that Hates

  • SCP-3199 // Humans Refuted

  • SCP-621 // Hypnobulbs

  • SCP-098 // Surgeon Crabs

Within Area-12, there are reports of the Foundation experimenting with hybrid anomalies; brutal SCP combinations, bred for ultimate destruction.

This game's development is suffering from a lack of focus. Is it a tactical shooter? A horror game? A horde shooter? SCP: 5K is trying to be many things and excelling at none. Now they've gone and added a new mode (and PvP for some reason) instead of making sure the main parts of the game, like the campaign missions, are the best they can be. Affray, please work on one thing at a time. I really do want this game to be good, but as of right now I can't recommend it.

I don't even know what's happening with the development at this point. The devs say they know it's weird to make new content when they should focus on updating the old content but then add new stuff anyways? The first chapter for the updated Site Raid is insanely unpolished, compared to the beginning they had before. Performance is unstable, settings don't work i.e. brightness, the levels are confusing and look the same. QA has dropped significantly. And yet they decided to add another game mode and PvP, who buys an SCP game for the PvP? I don't know man, I could go into details but the quality seems to drop every patch.

I really want to like this but the direction of this game is worrying. instead of concentrating on fixing the campaign they are releasing a half baked "Upgrade" for the survival wave part of the game which in reality is a downgrade. The mode is extremely simplistic mix of outlast trials and ready or not but implemented in the worst way possible with not that many guns, inability to customise guns which was a thing I liked about the game being its a tactical shooter and a garbage gamble system. At this point the lead of this game needs to pull his head out his ass and get the rest of the devs to concentrating on finishing the campaign and making sure to include only high quality scps instead of just adding shit things and trying to milk us for money.

Things I love/Pros; -Guns are have great sound and visual design. Very fun to use. -Plus, guns also have decent customization options (Scopes, grips, light/laser, barrel) -Environments are cool and game is now optimized fairly well. (used to be run poorly) my rtx3060 runs at 60c with all settings on high. -Voice acting can bit hit or miss, but for the most part is decent. -Tbh I generally don't give a damn about the story, asking my group, mostly folks think there's a lack of engagement with anything going on. You're just a fedboy walking through area 57, very much a "good enough" sentiment. Cons; -Bugs, bugs, bugs, so many bugs. Not talking about the funny ragdolls, I'm saying getting stuck in a wall or stuck behind a pallet every. single. mission. Or getting glitched on a ladder and being permanently stuck, maybe your suppressor is magically floating away (your laser will too), iron sights sticking around after you slap on a sight. And one of the more prominent issues is connecti...

Probably the most unique approach to a horror game I never imagined a tactical horror shooter would work but somehow the developers made it work and it's brilliant It's still in Early Access tho so of course the game has performance issues and it lacks enough campaign missions but I think the team is gonna make one hell of a game once they release it fully

I want to love this game but the mix of tactical shooter and horde swarming can just sometimes not go well (It could be a skill issue) It also isnt in the greatest levels of polish as of current (I will probably change the review when more polishing comes out)

Disappointing I bought this game over 2 years ago, back then I was mostly forgiving of how clunky it felt because of how recent of a release it was. I see no significant improvement in the gameplay itself since then, and it's just very shallow. I don't think it does enough to distinguish itself from a non-SCP related shooter game, every minute I spent exploring or actually shooting I just wished I was playing Ready or Not. Even things as small as the player models look generic and low-effort. It's pretty disappointing that Containment Breach, a game ten years older and with no price tag executes both the horror and SCP world far better than this CS:GO reskin.

What is there is good, but is just too early yet to buy in. Unfortunately, its been 3 years or so and still in EA, so we'll check on it in 2030 and see if its ready yet

A lot of potential but way to unfocused. The game is still pretty buggy, especially the last chapter with little attention to fix this issue or to flesh out the campaign.
