About This Game

Galactic war has ended in the complete annihilation of both sides. Makeshift communities made up of displaced species were pushed to the outskirts of the warzone. Now, these hovels are uninhabitable. Orphans, old folks and animals hitch rides on ghost ships, bound for nowhere. Last night, you and a convoy of strangers boarded a scuttled Dominion warship. Home is far away.

Kilcount is a sci-fi comedy game that plays out through conversation and exploration. All of the stowaways aboard the vessel have interests and desires, which you may or may not choose to entertain. There are five possible endings to the scenario, all of which are based on your interactions with the people around you. An average playthrough will last between one and two hours. There are absolutely no secrets in this game, and you should not seek them out.

Features:
-Thirty-two interactive characters with diverse personalities and specific interests
-Six optional quest chains
-Five completion-based endings
-One lovingly-written script

Kilcount is a narrative adventure where you explore an alien ship full of many strange characters. It takes about 3 hours to get 100% completion, not counting small variations on the ending. The ambient atmosphere is very reminiscent of Yume Nikki , but it does not have any abstract exploration (and I am glad it is not another dreaming game). For the most part, you just explore the ship and do errands for its inhabitants. There is no gameplay aside from text choices and walking around, so you could technically call it a "walking simulator". The challenging part is figuring out how to obtain correct items for the quests, sometimes that may include a combination of event. However, the items are used automatically if you interact with a correct alien, so it is not too difficult; you can basically go through the game by the process of elimination . Obviously the art style is very basic, but I kind of like the creativity behind it, and the ambient soundtrack was very im...

6/10 The other reviews (although few in number) do a pretty solid job of explaining Kilcount. You play as a "bird" (or at least one of the other characters refers to you this way), and you're trying to course-correct a ship that is attemtping to find a new place to live for its diverse inhabitants. You'll meet bizarre sci-fi monsters, demonic forces, robots, and even a dog, and each has an item that they are looking for (or at the very least will be receptive to getting). Most of the fun in Kilcount, in my opinion, came from just seeing what sort of wild things emerged from the imagination of developer Beatrice. For instance, one monster that you meet wants to devour you, and after you meet him, this demand is noted in your notebook. As soon as you meet him, you tell yourself, "well, OK, that's one demand I won't be able to meet." However - without spoiling anything, I can tell you that it's entirely possible to meet his demand without killing yourself. Unfortunately, there are a co...

I have beaten the game. This is a fun, lighthearted top-down adventure game set on a spaceship filled with strange creatures. The controls are simple, and the gameplay loop is straightforward. You spend the first part of the game exploring an dfinding keys to unlock the different rooms, and then the rest of the game using clues and item descriptions to give gifts to different NPC's, who will repay your gift with one of their own, which you can then gift to someone else and so on. The gift chains end with a unique item that cant be traded. There seems to be a place where you can end the game at any point, but I made sure to fufil everyones desire before ending. Im not sure if there are multiple endings but I was satisfied with the one I recieved. I really enjoyed the simplistic art style and atmospheric sound track. All in all, this short and sweet game is well worth the price and is worth a playthrough.

kilcount is a sci fi puzzle game (kind of) and it does a pretty fucking good job of making a chain of requests into an engaging experience. i don't really fuckin like video games but this one was pretty okay. you're not getting anything expansive, but you are getting a neat little story about a bunch of freaks on a ship that make bodies out of hair and absorb radiation and shit. strong rec to people who don't bitch about casual video games. excited to see what the creator puts out next.
