Contains a game-breaking bug that will fully corrupt co-op saves in the final area. Lost our entire first playthrough because of it. Do not buy until it is patched.

I've never left a "waaah it crashes" review before, but waaah it crashes! Trying Windows 10, Arch Linux, Vulkan, DirectX, changing Proton versions, framerate capping, downgrading graphics options all failed to stop producing error popups. I don't think I saw the same error twice, which is even more concerning. All 1 hour of my gameplay occurred between the intro sequence and the end of class selection - I never made it to the actual game. I'm not coming back until it's on a big sale, lest I waste more time or inadvertently exit the refund window troubleshooting.
I waited to review until I could try the Co-Op. Everything runs smoothly and the game feels great. Dripping with nostalgia and you'll be pleasantly surprised at how advanced this game was for the time. Again thank you for co-op it breathes new life into an already exceptional title. Exactly what a Remaster should be.
This game friggin rules, but the co-op is broken occasionally enough that it will mess up a playthrough. Basically you will experience major issues, at some point during a playthrough in co-op. Which isn't really acceptable. Example of weird shit I experienced in a single co-op playthrough as player 2: 1. Lost my entire build and became a duplicate of player 1 (10 hours into the game, ruining the playthrough sort of) (I had already beaten the game whereas player 1 hadn't so it wasn't so bad but still) 2. (after that) all my items from before being duplicated were in a huge pile in the area, but it doesn't matter because i no longer had the skills to actually use them 3. (after that) all items me or player 1 used would remove the item from both of us as if we were merged into 1 character 4. (after that) game removed half my items as if to say "wait you can't have everything player 1 has! that's not fair" also deleted all my nanites. 5. Player 1 was unable to invite me because the game o...
They didn't fix game breaking and save corrupting bugs from the original.
Looks better than modded OG for sure imo and especially the models. Plays about the same so what's not to love? Don't really get all the neg reviews from people playing coop though, like.....who tf plays this game coop anyway? lol
The Gold Standard of What a Remaster Should Be

The Game
There’s not much to be said that hasn’t already been uttered or written probably thousands of times about System Shock 2 in the 25 years since its release. The game is a marvelous marriage of a first-person shooter, RPG, horror game, and dungeon crawler and holds the illustrious distinction as the progenitor of the immersive sim. One thing that System Shock 2 has always excelled in is its atmosphere. The environment of the Von Braun is tense and oppressive. Each corridor you traverse, every room you enter, evokes unease while telling a story. Whether it is the relatively clean interiors of the Med/Sci deck or the organic horrors littered throughout Hydroponics, the world has an appeal that is seldom matched by even modern games. I’m also happy to proclaim that even after 25 years the gameplay of System Shock 2 holds up amazingly well. The core gameplay loop of exploration, looting, hacking, combat, upgr...
Cannot believe System Shock 2 co-op is a thing and that it works. The Devs did an amazing job with this one.
Good game almost perfect except for the last two levels. Now I have to wait for another dev to learn to count to 3
