About This Game

FragmentVR is a VR application for HTC Vive owners that makes use of the front camera to create windows onto your surroundings from within virtual reality.
FragmentVR puts each view into a SteamVR Overlay so that you can create and use them while inside any other VR game or app.
HTC Vive Pro is currently not supported

Usage is simple: Place corners using the controller. Once 4 corners have been placed the view is created and remains fixed in 3D space.

Upcoming Features & improvements:

  • HTC Vive Pro support
  • other HMDs + external camera support

Check out our to complain about bugs and request features!

FragmentVR is only compatible with the standard HTC Vive for now since it is the only HMD with an accessible camera (HTC Vive Pro support is high on the to-do list but not currently supported ).

The idea is so good. This has massive potential. I give a thumbs up because how can it progress if the negative reviews prevent this being purchased by more people and supported to develop. After all it is early access. Dev Please let us know your development plan for the software Neg reviews people please be patient, change to possitive and decide once updates come along.

[edit2] The way EVERY SINGLE Vive Pro user is assuming Steam hardware categories work is Vive = Vive Pro compatible, I've bought 60+ softwares and your's is the first to break this logic. I feel like either the categories need o be fixed or support added. [/edit2] [edit] Thank you for the quick response, I'll give this another try and edit the review if I deem it necessary. I gave it a good five minutes, Vive Pro grips do not interact with the corners.[/edit] Useless in room scale and pointless in seated scale. Instead of blindly looking for your keyboard you'll break your neck trying to get your keyboard to aling with the window you barely managed to make and somehow still after the trird try is triagular. Because the tooltip is far less obvious than the developer assumes. TLDR: way too early acces to pay for.

Finally, the tool I was waiting for... but wait. It does not work. First I was unable to draw the corners. Then somehow I managed to draw them, but no image showed inside, and the rectangle was warping when moving my head. I tried multiple times for 10 minutes for the advertised functionality without success, then gave up.

Props to the developer who helped me get FragmentVR up and running and it works as advertised and very well too. I'm using FragmentVR for sim racing and here's my video showing it in action. https://youtu.be/4HrxTnyoM7Y Old review for reference: Great idea, but doesn't work for me at all. FragmentVR crashes every time. It displays the Dashboard button but doesn't do anything beyond this, the FragmentVR Dashboard icon turns grey when selected. At this point the FragmentVR window on my desktop displays a not responding crash message. Refunding as I have no idea if it ever will work in the future either. And yes my Vive camera is turned on (and working) in the SteamVR settings.

I want to start by saying I really want this software to work. I didnt give a thumbs down because it has potential. As I have only messed with it for only 10 mins or so, I found that I am able to create the square where I wan't it, but there is no video. Opening Steam VR settings says camera is not recognized on the USB port that the Vive is plugged into. Although before installing Fragment VR it worked fine. I gave a thumbs up because it very well could be that I'm doing something wrong, and It's not the software itself. It could be that Fragment has taken control of the camera away from Steam VR, but I havent found any camera settings in Fragment as of yet. I am running Steam VR Beta.

Just absolutely terrible with the Index; maybe I should've read the description. I got excited seeing the video thinking it would be so useful. And somehow it says I played with it for 8.7 hours so I cant even refund.

Works great! I managed to get it set up exactly as I wanted using only the user interface's built in tutorial without needing to go diving into various websites. Only minor issue is that it seems over sensitive to automatically hide the camera view if I am not looking exactly center on at the fragment I have created. I can understand someone having the opposite problem, wanting to hide the view whenever they're not looking directly center on at the fragment, so maybe a radius or sensitivity option would be useful.

At this price I can’t help but recommend getting this. Yeah, it’s rough around the edges and lacks some features that would make using it more straightforward and comfortable, but it does what it says it does and does it sufficiently well and that’s really all that matters for me. TLDR: If you want to be able to see your keyboard or something else while in game, get this.

Fragment is wonderful for creating views into real life. I highly recommend it. Two caviats: I find the controls a bit unintuitive, but nothing unusable. My computer is junk and can barely run VR, and fragment is not a 'light' program. It does not effect things while im in game but with my setup I just cant use it comfortably.
