Dev refuses to port over the superior Switch port AND randomly decided to over triple the original price whilst offering nothing in return. Not at all worth buying.

Introduction MissileDancer is a minimalistic retro style vertical shmup. I bought it after having played RagingBlasters, a new game by Terarin. Since I enjoyed that game a lot I looked for his previous games. The recently released Switch version of Missile Dancer has improved visuals but I don't mind the simpler Steam version, it actually looks more clear to me and it's ridiculously cheap. Gameplay Like most vertical shmups the playfield is narrow. You fly a jet with lock on missiles and autofire to destroy incoming enemy missiles. There's a radar you can check for approaching enemies. You keep your lock-on button pressed and then your available missiles wil lock on one by one. Once they're all locked on they'll launch automatically but you can also launch any locked on missiles by either letting go of the lock-on button or by pressing the missile button with the latter being more convenient. You can pick up Range and Missile items, Range items will increase the lock-on...
It's a fun little shoot 'em up with great music. The primary feature of this game is the lock-on missiles. Controls are simple as it's a mobile port. There is a traditional stage-based arcade mode as well as a caravan (score attack) mode. The game is pretty easy but it still fun. I don't have much playtime on Steam but I've played it a lot on Android. I bought all of Terarin's games on Android and would be happy to see them all on Steam someday, too.
Pros: -Good 2D graphics, I like the artstyle -Great gameplay, similar to Raystorm -Tight controls -Full controller support -This is an excellent game for shoot 'em up beginners -Sound test included -Good soundtrack -Simple but creative level design -Possibility of moving with a mouse, which is uncommon with shmups -Fun chain system -Fair price Cons: -Very short game. (8 levels that are done in no more than 2 minutes) -Needs more features -No trading cards -A few grammatical errors -No achievements Other: -Hardware Requirements: Low -Game is family friendly: Yes -Difficulty: More or less difficult -Overall recommendation: Recommended
Good fun shooter with tight controls and a simple but handy radar. Definitely one that won't take too long to practice and memorise to go for a perfect run. My only complaint would be that the enemy missiles can get a bit lost in the visuals since there's only a few colours, they could do with standing out a bit more as they tend to blend into the background which has often got me killed on the first try at a stage. Can't fault it for the price though, hopefully the devs will go on to create an even bigger game. Would be nice to have a pause function rather than the escape key exiting the game though!
Pretty fun, definitely not too difficult
